3-Point Hitch L-series Jerky 3PH - Jeff's homebrew repair.

So, I think they were deliberately set incorrectly to minimize a problem the factory techs at Kubota know there's no easy fix for.

In short, if it walks like a duck, sounds like duck, looks like a duck.. It's a duck. No way all three tractors were set "wrong", three different years and 2 different models. And coincidentally set "wrong" to an adjustment that eliminates pogo-ing of the 3-point at the expense of smooth operation? Come on, really? What it is, is a compromise, and nothing but.

Yep, I agree 100%.

Deja vu all over again. How many times have we been down this road? With how many different guys? I lose count.

So chuck172, when you get the tractor back, the things to look for are:

1) with a heavy implement on the 3-pt, move the lever up slowly in small increments. If fixed, it will be smooth.

2) with heavy implement on the 3-pt raised all the way up, operate the front loader. The 3-pt should be rock solid and not budge.

Based on everything we know here, I do not think #1 and #2 are mutually possible. Considering all evils, I almost think it makes sense to live with the problem if you normally operate the 3-pt in a way that doesn't cause issues (such as large or fast motions of the lever when raising implements). If that is not acceptable operation for you, fight to get a refund or some other solution.

As much as I like my current and previous Kubota, they deserve to take heat on this issue. It's not right to ship a product that has a problem like this. Is especially crazy that they have had this problem for years, across multiple generations of the tractor, and haven't fixed it.

To be fair, they're "good enough" for 90% of all users, which is why they sell so many.

I'm pretty picky about machinery quality, and the L series is a very good tractor indeed with a couple not-quite-fatal flaws. Am I 100% happy with mine? No, I'm not.. but it's not something I can't live with.

Would I trade it and take my chances on a whole different set of potential problems? Not likely.. I've learned over the years that sometimes you're better off with the devil you know.

The dealer is picking up the machine this Monday at his expense. I'll tell him to call me when it's fixed, I want to personally come over to check it out, do not just deliver it. (thanks NotforHire) When I get over there, I'll look for the above. (thanks s219).

I thought you said your dealer is picking up the tractor on his dime? Give him a chance man...
I will give him a chance bluegill2, I'm just getting prepared for what might happen. Hopefully he will come through and fix this problem. This problem is new to me, as is my tractor (5hours), so I'm learning from the experiences of others.

Just got off the phone with the dealer. I need advice fast. He said he wants to make me happy with my new tractor, the jerking problem can't be fixed on the L3200. He's talking about replacing the L3200 with a different one. Possibly a B model?
I told him I chose the L for the power and weight. What should I do?

Go buy a Kioti or LS. Well, probably a little late for that.. Do you have enough money for a Grand L? If not that is why he is suggesting one of the larger B's like a the new B3350 but its 3pt is quarter inching not position control. It also weight less.. Press hard for a Grand L at dealer cost..

I take it that there are no B's that are large enough? How about a GL? If not the only option left would be to cancel the deal.

If it were me, I wouldn't even consider keeping the 3200 if the hitch was jerky. As I have stated before, the only fix I know of is to stay away from the standard Kubotas and buy a Grand, or change brands.

Does your dealer sell anything else?

How important is the 3pt to your intended needs.. do you intend to do a lot of box blading? or grading? Quarter inching is ok, just not the best for "holding position" as it really has no mechanism for holding position.. That mechanism is you.
