L vs M series Kubotas?

When I upgraded, I looked at the MX vs M. Went with the M series. Heavier tractor, higher hydraulic capacities.

Bought a brand new 2009 M6040. It's been an excellent tractor.

There are a very few times - wish I'd have gone bigger, same with going smaller. The M6040 hit a sweet spot for my needs.

I liked my little M7040. Tough little bugger. Pulled a round baler!

Yes please update your original post to L vs MX if that is the case. The M series is Ag Utility, no HST transmission offering (gear only)...just a machine built for different purposes than a compact (L) or compact utility (MX).
yes, MX series is in a mid range series between L & M, but a far cry from the M series. MX is a decent tractor, had a 5000 once. bare bones & solid, a slight notch above the L series, not much though (once owned a L4400 as well).
definately test drive the MX extensively to get the feel over the L best regards

L and MX nice tractors, but I’d rather have a lightly used M than a new MX or L

I started off with an L4630 GSTC and loved it but it was aging and I wanted to get into something bigger.
Found a used pre-tier 4 M6040 DTC for a great price and snapped it up.
The M is a beast compared to the L in all categories. Larger wheels, much higher loader capacity and of course 15 more hp.

I have a MX5200 and it is one solid stable machine

With a 900 pound grapple on front it can still life huge logs

Good commentary on MX versus M tractors. They are not the same at all.

From L, to MX, to M. the OP has the good sense to inquire. IMHO the step from L to MX is a small one. the next step from either L or MX to M series utility tractor is a big one. Jeff & sea2summit explained that well in above posts My experience has been the same. The MX series has always struck me (from ownership of both) to be a wannabe M series tractor. The OP should carefully explore the reasons from stepping up from current L series for current & future needs. Any upgrade shoud be to solve a specific need. the future need forecast sometimes gets complex
personally, i'd never consider going back to MX with my current tractor, but each owner has their own needs. & more importantly, their wallet... best regards
