L2800 3 point shudder problem

   / L2800 3 point shudder problem #21
I have L2800 HST, and had the shudder "fix" done 6-4-2006, just before the warranty expired :)
It seems quite a bit better, but I'll admit I haven't tried the post hole digger yet, which was the absolute worst as far as the shudder went. I got a new back hoe at the same time, so I've been playing with it! :)
Good luck! Terry

Just curious, the L4400 is from this same family of tractors, does it require the fix also?

To all, I spoke with a Kubota rep in Suwanee GA regarding my 3-point shudder problem. At first he told me that the L2800 is an economy tractor and that I am not going to get the smooth 3-point action of my M7040. when I said I wish someone would have told me before I spent good money on my tractor and that I could have paid the same price for a NH TC-30 with a properly working 3-point, he back off a little. Here's his recommendation, sit on the tractor at idle speed, with an implement attatched, raise all the way up. Again, while on the seat, turn the speed adjustment knob all the way to the left (towards your left leg). Turn it so tight that when you try to lower the 3-point, it will not do so. Back off the knob turning ever so slighlty to the right and the problem should subside. I am going to try it tonight when I head to the farm. Will advise.

Hate to say it, but the only thing thats going to cure your shudder, is a new valve. Don't let up, Kubota should do this for you.

Alright guys, I followed the Kubota techs advice and it's a lot better. I realized that the threads on my speed adjustment knob was rusted tight. Once I got the knob to break free of rust, I raised the implement all the way up and turned the knob as hard left as possible so that when I tried to lower the implement, it would stay up. I backed off the knob intil the mower started to lower at a slow rate. Reved the engine to 2k rpm and there was still a slight shudder when I raised the mower, but a lot less noticable. I can say that I can live with out a silky smooth 3-point. I did have better results when I would just pull the lever up at a quicker rate rather than really slowly. Try this and I think you will be happy. It's a lot better than having the back end of your tractor in pieces in order to replace the valve.
Just a thought.

"It's alot better than having the back end of your tractor in pieces in order to replace the valve"

I may be wrong, but I believe you would think different if you could try one thats had the valve change done on it and see the difference. I couldn't believe the difference when I got my tractor back, and I'm sure others will agree with this thats had the change done in their tractors, but if your happy and can live with it, then thats what really matters.

I thought that adjustment knob that you are talking about only was for adjusting the speed that your implement lowered. I never could see a difference when raising my three point hitch after adjusting it, just a difference when lowering.

If you ever want to use a rear blade, box blade, rake, etc. You will get very frustrated trying to make a small adjustment. It will jump an inch or more. Totally unacceptable for that kind of work. I'd just get it done.

Whichever idiot at Kubota came up with this 'Economy tractor' line needs to learn a thing or two about customer service. You don't tell people that have spent $20k for equipment - "oh ... you just bought the economy model. If only you handn't been so cheap and had sprung for our deluxe model".

No where in the brochure does it say that L3400 valve is not smooth as the Grand L valves - like it does for say the B7800 (1/4 inching valve) vs. B3030.

I would beat on Kubota to get the new valve. World of a difference.

I agree! Not having a smooth 3PH is Ludicrous.

Do these engineers actually ever drive a tractor and do any work with it???
