L2800 lift shudders

My new L3400 (5 hours) 3PT is also jerky. This only happens on UP. If I move the lever very slowly nothing happens for a bit and then it jerks up. Move up a bit more, nothing, then a jerk. My dealer has found some info about this and is coming out tomorrow to look at it. He says Kubota will have a fix for this. I really like this tractor a lot.

I was at dealer this week, looking at L2800, L3400 and L3130. After reading the the comments on TBN, I asked him to put a box blade on and test the 3pt on the L2800. It was OK for big movements, but impossible to move smoothly in small amounts. It seems to jump about 1 inch at a time. For some applications, I wouldn't care, but I can't see any way to do precise grading work with this machine. I'm not an expert operator by any stretch of the imagination, but I have rented quite a few machines with tillers, box blades, etc. and have never seen a 3pt work in this way. My dealer said that Kubota is aware of the 'issue', but said it is working as designed. The valves are not the same quality as in the L3130, B3030, etc., it is just a lower-end model. He did not mention any fix in the works from Kubota.

My dealer replaced the valve on my L2800 with a valve off a 3130. It made a big difference. I wasn't charged anything for this. I know that the L series tractors are not top of the line tractors, but there is a serious designe flaw with the three point lift system on these tractors and it needs to be adressed. $16,000 low end or not is still $16,000. You shouldn't have to pay 2 or 3 thousand dollars more for a top of the line tractor to get a functional three point lift system.

Just contacted my dealer for the second time about this issue. Something has to be done. That is just ridiculous. The higher the rpm the more the jerk. I hope they come up with the info on this "valve" that fixes the problem. Just venting a little hear. 8226Hammer. Does your repair order say exactly what was done or give a part number? I think this info would help many others. Thanks, Brian

I didn't get a repair order. When I picked up my tractor the service manager and the mechanics had already left for the day. I asked a lady in the office if I needed to sign anything and she said no that I was ready to go. I will call Monday and ask what valve it was and try and get a part#, if I don't forget. I do know that it was a valve for a 3010 tractor. I was told that the L2800 has a 1" increment valve which is what is causing the problems. The valve for a 3010 is larger.

My dealer called Kubota tech help line and the valve is coming for my tractor. I can hardly wait. So are you saying that you can now adjust your three point in less than 1" increments? If so, that would be great. I can hardly wait to get this resolved. It is my only gripe about the tractor but Kubota apparently is making it right. I hope they have alot of these valves because once the word gets out that it is not normal for the tractor to jerk when raising the three point that people will be lining up. My dealer will pick the tractor up, change the valve and then return it. I will post my reuslts once this happens. As for the rest of you, I would contact your dealer and make them call Kubota. There is no service bulletin yet for this problem. They must call and ask for the part. Brian

The new valve that was installed on my L2800 made the 3-point hitch much smoother when I raise the 3-point hitch and I can now feather out whatever I'm working with. I am however having problems with the PTO again. I was using my tiller again and, to me it sounds like the over running clutch is kicking in as soon as I lower the tiller. The PTO shaft quits turning and there is a nasty grinding sound. If I raise the tiller up it quits grinding and the PTO shaft starts working again. It's back at the dealer now. It's a good thing they haven't sold my old B2910. I know what the over running clutch does, but why is it necessary? My B-20 and my B-21 and my 2910 didn't have this. Is the L series the only group that has this set up? If I had known the L2800 was like this I probably would have went with a new B-3030. I do like the L2800, but it is aggervating having a new tractor and having this problem. Has anybody had a problem while using a tiller, or any PTO driven implements with a new L2800 with the hydro tranmission? It's been three days and I haven't heard anything. I will call them tomorrow and see if they have found the problem and post what I find out.

Hammer,
Pardon but I am a bit confused. (normal). Is the replacement
valve from 3130 or 3010. I am wanting to contact my dealer and get the process started for upgrading my rig.
Thanks
Greg

i am having the same jerky problem with my l2800dt.i went to the dealer today and he was aware of a few complaints with these lifts and he looked on the service bulletins and found something from kubota.he did not tell me what it said but he told me he would order the replacement valve and pick up my tractor monday june 27. for the valve replacement.he indicated it was a valve from the 30 series tractors but did not say which exact model.this is the kind of service we would expect from kubota and as of now am very pleased it will be taken care of.will follow up once repairs are done.

I just talked to my dealer here in southeast Michigan about the 3 point shudder problem on my L3400. This is the first that he'd heard there was a problem. We went out to the lot and I demonstrated the problem on a 2800hst that had a chipper on the back. I think he was suprised at the result and agreed that it shouldn't behave that way. He's going to get in touch with the Kubota rep to discuss the issue, and in the meantime he asked that I fax him a copy of this thread, which I've done today. Perhaps everyone involved might consider getting their dealers a copy of this thread as well. I think that if we all stick together on this thing, we'll all get satisfactory results (i.e. replacement valves) from Kubota. To that end, I think its important to keep this thread alive, and especially for everyone to post follow ups particularly in regards to tractors that have been "fixed" by the dealers under warranty. Hopefully, I'll have something to add here before the weeks out.

....Tony
