L2800 lift shudders

After a few holes I got around the shudder problem better. I would push in the clutch, stopping the bit at the bottom of the hole and pull the three point lever all the way back so that the bit came out in one motion. If you try to come out slow is when the shudder is really bad. That way there was only one bang at the top and most of the dirt stayed on the bit. You could move forward and then give the bit a spin and all the dirt came loose. I do really like my tractor and now have 6 hours on it. It is amazing how little fuel they use. Very nimble. Bucket is great. I also have a box scraper that i have not tried yet. There, I think the shudder would be a pain. Going to visit my dealer today and see status of valve and ask about it effecting the hydro as someone said in another post. Thanks, Brian.

My dealer picked up the L3400HST at 8AM and returned it at 4PM. I can't wipe the smile off my face. The 3PH is now much smoother. I can raise the brush hog in small increments without shaking anything. The HST remains unchanged. At idle in HI range mashing the pedal sends the tractor surging forward just as before. I can notice no difference in performance.

My dealer found the valve for this fix on his Kubota web site. Any dealer should be able to do this.

106 hours of hard dirt work and no mechanical problems. I'd say she's just getting comfortable with herself (broken in) and likes it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
I haven't tried the rpm trick, but when box blading it sounds inconvenient. When my dealer picks her up to install the BH subframe I'll inquire about the valve replacement. What the heck, if Kubota is paying for it.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've been to a couple of different dealers and pretty much they say thats just how the L series pumps are.

Just because "they all do it" doesn't mean that it's working properly. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
3pt hitchs shouldn't make the entire tractor shudder and jump.
I currently have my dealer checking out the "valve fix" for my new L3400, which is experiencing the same symptoms. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
I will post the results.

Thanks to all for the information.

I talked to my dealer and the "valves" are on backorder. Imagine that. Evetyone wants one. Mine is supposed to be here next week. Sounds like everyone should have a valve installed and it should be a recall. The tractor should work properly without asking. Kubota need to step up to the plate and take care of us who bought a "standard tractor" and not the fancy Grand L series.I am glad to here of your pleasure with the new valve. Brian

I talked with a Kubota rep in Atlanta yesterday (7-6-05) and he explained to me about the valve replacement phenomenon.
Seems that the L2800 I have is assembled with the smaller valve and the valve has no feathering capabilities.
It's simply an "on or off" type valve. The replacement valve, although not really classified as a warranty repair, will be done at Kubota's expense except for oil and possibly labor...depending on the dealer. The new valve is the one that goes on the L3010, and is larger diameter, and like I said, has a feathering capability I suppose due to a graduated closing instead of slamming shut. (I am no hydraulic guru)

I am pleased so far with the response from Kubota and I will report back to this forum how the remainder of this experience pans out. I have asked the local dealer, who also e-mailed me yesterday, to attain the valve prior to me bringing the tractor in, and that I would have the 50-hour service and the valve replaced congruently.

I hope this helps clarify, although most of this info has already been shared. This is a most helpful forum, and my Orange Mule is breaking in very nicely. I only wish I was riding her right NOW!

Keep all us southern boys and girls in your prayers ... looks like we're all about to get blasted by the second major hurricane in two years....Dennis is projected to be a category 5 hurricane at landfall! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

update on valve replacement.dealer picked up my 2800dt the monday before the holiday but due to the holiday was running behind on repairs, he brought tractor back yesterday.today i had a chance to try it out for a full day and i must say i am very impressed with the smoothness of the lift.it operates as it should have to begin with.i know people complain about kubota sometimes or maybe it was just my dealer but as soon as i talked to them they sent a truck out to pick up my machine fixed it and brought it back to me all at no charge to me.i could not be more pleased with kubota for admitting the problem an for my excellent service from my dealer.im sure i will remember this when i need more equipment or parts.

Went to the dealer today. He's gonna check with Kubota and let me know. Has anyone had the dealer charge him for the fix yet?

My dealer is driving me crazy. My valve is in. Made arrangements to have tractor picked up by dealer. The salesman was supposed to tell the driver to bring a key as I was not comfortable leaving a key in it with no one home. I come home from work and my tractor is right where I left it. Called the dealer. Could not pickup because no key. No one told the driver or called me or anything. Now we are going to try again on Friday. I am about ready to look at green tractors and I only have 7 hours on this one. On the price of the part and labor this is supposed to be covered. Except the service dept. did not know that. I talked to the western Kubota sales rep and he said FREE. Brian

My dealer did even mention a charge. The new valve is working great.
