Wish I'd found this sight earlier. Just bought a new L3000DT (4wd), frontend loader, cutter, & box blade. It'll be used (& used, & used) to keep up our 12 acre mini-ranch. Lot's of mowing, some dirt work, gravel work, etc., and all around stuff I don't want to break my back doing. Can anyone who owns an L3000 give me any insight as to what to expect, performance wise. By the way I also have a saddle shop, hence the Username.

saddleman, fill in more of your profile to tell us more about yourself and where you are. I don't think you'll find as many messages on the forum specifically for the L3000DT as for the HST models, but most of the information applies to both. I don't have any personal experience on the L3000DT, but I think it's safe to say it'll probably give you a lifetime of good service.

saddleman-

I just bought a L300DT in December. So far all I've done is snow removal w/it, but have been very impressed.

Which tires did you end up going with?

i bought a l3000dt as well.. have put almost 50 hours on it.. it has a fel filled r1's and a rear blade.. so far it has given me 100 percent satisfaction.. it is reliable and tough.. while not a HST it shifts very easy. i have 13 acres and cleared 3 foot of snow and shifting was never an issue for me.. the only other mandatory option i want for next year though is some chains as did get stuck a couple of times even with the r1's... but have fun with your machine

Stayed with the R1's. Here in NW Louisiana traction is a concern dring the winter (wet) months.

Saddleman, you have a great little tractor there, and will be suprised how much that little thing can get done... It is a great size and very good choice for your use and amount of land. I have a L2650DT with front end loader and backhoe, BH is on less than 10% of the time... Most of the other farmers around are very impressed the first time they see it work....

I am a few days away from my L3000 ! (getting hard to sleep). The dealer is installing the loader so I can be sure this is the machine I want. My only dilemma is AG vs. Turf. I want the traction in the dirt, but I am afraid I will tear up lawn and create ruts. I am leaning to the turf, am I making a mistake here ?

Saddleman,
Congrats and good luck. I work 11 acres, 3 horses, two pastures, mow trails, move manure, bushhog, drag arena etc etc. Bought a new 2500DT (probably a few HP less than the 3000?) and am very happy with it. Use R1's WITH duogrip chains which I just purchased ($160 new, pretty cheap) and well worth it in heavy snow. You should be very pleased. I've done all maintenance myself so far and have found it very easy. tap, tap, tap (That was me knocking on wood!!) Happy tractoring - your tack shop western, english or all around?

The L3000 has a few more horses than the 2500. My dealer assure me (more than once) it's all the tractor I will need. As far as my shop goes, if it fits on a horse (or mule for that matter), I work on it.

Think you'll find he's right. I'm sized right for what I do. Use a 7ft backblade for snow, 5ft med duty bushhog for cutting and pull a 5ft box blade with no problem. Only thing I wouldn't mind is a bigger bucket. That manure pile gets pretty big over the winter and I move it each spring to the back of the property. (Still looking for a used spreader or small dump trailer). Of course this spring should be a little easier since my backhoe has an 8ft bucket and holds 1.5 yards (I think that's the volume)
