Buying Advice L3200 Dt 4wd question

   / L3200 Dt 4wd question #31
I grew up on a farm running 2 cyl tractors with hand clutchs. I bought the L3400DT with 2 stage clutch and FEL and have no regreats not having a hydro. I also have a very nice '55 Ford 860 that has a two stage clutch and it works very well. I also get better fuel economy with a clutch over a hydro because the hydro pretty much needs to keep the rpm's up to use it. Hydro has its uses but i'm with Bluegill2 on this one.

I hadn't thought of the fuel economy, but the little 23hp HST Massey we have is a fuel hog! I've been somewhat impressed with the low fuel consumption of the L3800DT.

I took delivery of my L3200 dt yesterday! Man have I been having fun on that rig. I have plowed parking lots where none existed, and I have to post a picture when I get the time.

I use it like a shuttle shift, but have to come to a stop to do so. One day I may have a hydro, but for now, I am very happy with it.
Congrats! You have a nice rig that will get a lot of work done!

Bluegill, I agree with you on the Gear vs HST. Something that isnt thought about too much is the fact that you keep all of your horsepower and dont have that loud whining noise all the time. Now I'm not dogging HST.......its a great improvement in the tractor world, but I intentionally bought a gear trans--L3200 because in my opinion the more deliberate moves with gear driven benefits me. I live atop a mountain, and one false move or jump in the wrong direction, and you'll be tumbling down the mountain in certain area's. When I am forced to THINK more about what gear im in and what I'm doing I feel much better about moving around my property, and I love the gear trans better because of this. With my luck, had I bought HST, I would have already gotten in too big of a hurry and plummeted to my death! lol

Yeah, P-Smurf, "you get to keep all of your horsepower" I like that man! :D

Agreed on the wine of a HST, I can't stand that. Another thing I like about gear drive is I'm able to do a lot of stuff at much lower rpm. Stuff where I don't need 540 pto rpm.

Well the snow is where the farm is(Maine), St pete is my Winter hide away, but I just had to buy my baby this Winter, Kubota had good deals so I had to get on with it.

Roger that Moto! You had that same look in the picture that I had (and still do) when I climb atop my L3200 for seat time!! I just thought somehow Florida got snow that totally missed Alabama!!:D

I've got deep roots here in the Northeast, left for the city life, now my youth is calling back for me to restart the farm. I think I still have the energy to pull it off. It's worth a shot. Tonight is someplace below 0 in Maine. My kubota did not start too great this morning.
I am not too sure I miss the snow, but it gives me play time with my new toy.
