Yeah, that is a Kubota canopy. I think it was a $300.00 option, which I didn't think was too bad. I got quotes from other dealers for as much as $750.00.

ALso, that 724 FEL is great. I picked up several rocks and moved them, all of them about the size of the bottom of a dining room chair, and the loader acted as if it were empty. It was great

Here's what to look for if you want to test your loader This limestone rock is very near the capacity (ability to lift and carry) of my LA724 loader.

Wow!! That makes the rocks I was picking up look like slingshot ammo.

I have a question, though. Would adding a tooth bar facilitate picking up those rocks? I was trying to scrape some dirt off for a driveway this past weekend, and there is so much rock under the soil that I can't get a good bite of the dirt. I was wondering if a tooth bar would help break it loose so I can go back and pick it up on a second pass, but I don't want to screw up the loader doing that. I can always hire a bulldozer to go in and do that for me and then use the FEL to clean up after the dozer.

I also noticed that the hydraulic lines are kind of out there exposed to limbs and stuff. I might change the routing later, but right now I'm able to make left turns around all the trees, not exposing the lines to getting snagged. That may change as the process goes on where I have to get in between trees, but for the time being, I think it will be okay. Maybe on the 50-hour service, I'll have them move the lines inside the arms for a little more protection.

I'm guessing your property is in the Hill Country based on your previous pictures. If so....

Unless you are taking about a riparian area, there is a very good chance the "rock under the soil" is actually the top part of very thick limestone layer. The upper part of the layer may be broken up a bit by roots etc. But even then it is often still pretty solidly interlocked with other "rocks".

IOW if you were able to blow away all the soil, the rocks would look like a loose fitting jig saw puzzle laying on top of a solid limestone layer. A tooth bar would be better than a std FEL edge. But it would still require you getting the teeth between/under 66-72" of stuff or find an edge/corner that is exposed to get started.

FWIW that is why I got the BH90 with a small bucket. I just turn around and rough up the area before using the FEL to lift/load the now loose material But sometimes I find that the rock just under the thin soil is actually a solid thick limestone layer In that case, the best way to go is UP.

The rock in the picture and the ones already on the ground are part of one of those limestone layers (actually 3 stacked layers of slightly different color/composition). They are now laid out as a 3D jigsaw puzzle for giants with a few missing pieces to add a degree of difficulty
