Talondancer,

It looks like you were up at my place stealing my Boulders. No clue what they weighed but they were big.....
Those rocks look serious. IIRC your LA723 has the same lift capacity as my LA724 so I'd guess the biggest of your rocks are just under 3/4 ton or you'd be pushing them around instead of picking them up.

FWIW I swear on my Kubota owners manual that I didn't steal any of your rocks. I don't have a trailer big enough to tote my L3240 and it is definitely not fast enough to drive up to NY to pick up one rock at a time :)

Talon,

You're forgiven... The loader is quite impressive. Moved them babies around with little effort. You're welcome to come get a few if you can afford the gas money to get here.....:)

I'm jealous guys! The new tractor is ready to go except for a missing backhoe subframe. Am hoping to see it Saturday, but am not sure.

Oh well, am still using a "loaner" L2900. Was definitely nice to have around for the foot of snow that we got last night...

Kubota seems to have trouble finding those BH90 subframes. It was the last part to show up and delayed my tractor delivery a week :(

BTW it takes a while to install the very heavy duty sub-frame, which replaces the puny one (by comparison) that comes with the GL3240. My dealer delivered the tractor with the stock sub-frame members (off the tractor of course) so that I would be able to reinstall them and sell the BH90 w/ sub-frame separately if I wanted to.

I'm guessing your property is in the Hill Country based on your previous pictures. If so....

Unless you are taking about a riparian area, there is a very good chance the "rock under the soil" is actually the top part of very thick limestone layer. The upper part of the layer may be broken up a bit by roots etc. But even then it is often still pretty solidly interlocked with other "rocks".

TalonDancer,

This is the picture I took when the tractor was delivered. If you zoom in and look just past the rotary cutter, you can see the rock I'm talking about. That stuff was dug up by the bulldozer that made the road to the property. It does look a lot like the hill country, but it's actually in north Texas, just west of Fort Worth. The rocks are not very big, (at least the ones I can see on the surface), but there are a lot of them.:D

The Cross Timbers eco-region west of Dallas has a lot in common with the Edward's Plateau eco-region of the eastern hill country including much of the: underlying geology, flora, fauna, etc. But it generally has less topography and more soil overlying the limestone. So my previous comments may not fit your property.

BTW if you are new to your property, your county Texas Cooperative Extension agent (AKA AgriLIFE Extension agent) can arrange a FREE "site visit" by trained volunteers for a hands on evaluation of the condition of your property's: flora, fauna, soil, erosion potential, etc.

Maybe someone with experience using a FEL Tooth Bar could chime in....
