L3400/2800 suspension seat...

This thread is getting pretty old but still holds true. My L2800 seat is stuck tight, have removed it from tractor and soaked the suspension in oil, beat on it, pryed on it, jumped on it and still have a couple frozen joints. Put it back together and will work on it again when the weather is below zero. My back is killing me, but I sure love that tractor!

I'm amazed at how much I have learned from viewing various threads on TBN. I also never realized that I had a suspension seat on my 1988 L2850 until reading this thread and checking out the tractor. A liberal soaking with PB blaster and a little jumping up and down and all is well. Great!

I wonder how many seats are locked up and people think that the two little springs are the "suspension seat"<<<Yes I are one. My tractor seat dont seem to have the bounce to my added ounce that it use to have. I thought I saw this thread a few years ago, had to some some googling to find it, almost like people have forgotten how much bettera a comfy ride is. I have to do some extra bucket work now on my driveway so I'll see if I can loosen up the seat.

I'm glad someone updated this thread, <your welcome.

Yes, a good suspension seat makes for a good day--sure beats a few folded burlap feed sacks placed on an old metal pan seat!

"old metal pan seat!"<<<I remember those on my father's 48 Case, but didn't matter back then, age as something to d with that.

It only took me a few min, to loosen up my seat, the T bolt was wound all the way in, been that way since I had it, no wonder the seat was so stiff. Sprayed everything with that smelly PB Blaster, that stuff smelled all afternoon but I got it all loosen up, back out the T bolt all the way then screwed it in 4 turns, nice and squishy now.

I'm guessing nobody ever discovered an answer to the original question...?

Have you 3400/2800 owners had a problem with the spring suspension seat mechanism freezing up and if so have you come up with any novel ideas to keep it from happening?

2013 L3200 with frozen seat. After many hours and 4 different types of Blaster/lubricant, have got it to where it will move with "clamps to get it down...pry bar to get it up" stage. Absolutely will not totally free up to where it moves freely with operator's weight. Gave up and put it back on the tractor. Very discouraging.

When I had it, I was able to free up mine by removing the seat and standing on the square pan and jumping up and down on it like Wiley Coyote after liberal application of Fluid Film. It worked from then on.

Yep, heard several people say that. This one you can literally work it up and down a hundred times (with clamps, or by jumping) and the 100th time you still have to pry it back up with a prybar.

The four suspension arms don't seem to be binding (can move a small amount laterally with a flat blade screwdriver) and I have even drilled 2 small oil holes in each of the arms to make sure lube was going into the units. Mind Blowing.

Did you tighten (preload) the horizontal springs by using the small lever on the back of the unit? If I remember, turn clockwise for more tension, and counterclockwise for less
