I'd like to take it apart and ream the holes...
I could not see ANY way to do take it apart... I'm pretty darn good about getting things apart... it's the putting back together that gets me :ashamed:

I told another person about the "real" suspension seat... he thought it was just the springs!

I hear what you're saying about reassembly, I use a welder for correcting minor misalignments these days..:)

I'd have to cut the pins right off the seat base to get at the bushings, I'm hoping they wear enough to stay free from now on.

Thanks to this thread I have another chore to do on the tractor.../making the seat work properly. Thanks to all.

Mine worked from the delivery, but was stiff, thanks for reminding me to lube it. I used Fluid Film . freed it right up. It was the only thing not rusted shut at delivery. I spent about 2 hours lubing and freeing up everything on the 3point, including the drop rate control valve. (that took a while). Even the 3 point 7/8 balls were rusted and would not swivel. Biggest boo boo was 3 of the loader grease zerks had not taken grease, I noticed a wad of grease on them, and assumed it went into the zerks.. not so. when it started sqeaking, I investigated, and 3 had paint over the holes. scraped off with a knife, and lubed it up.

I've seen a couple threads here about rusty Kubotas right off the dealer trailer.. makes me shake my head. Try to imagine a car dealer getting away with that. Some of them seem to think it's ok to deliver a tractor in that state because, in their opinion, it'll soon be rusty anyway.

Mine was pretty shiny when I got it, and that was after being hauled 1000 miles on a semi trailer through rain and road grime to get it to my dealer. He's quite particular about what they deliver to customers, worth his weight in gold.

YouTube - suspension seat.AVI

The seat is set at it's lowest possible setting (would bottom out if a kid sat in the seat), sorry that the video is very jumpy and jerky - it's only to show how the suspension seat should work.

Has anyone turned that nice suspension seat on the 2800/3400 into a swiveling suspension seat? Would be nice to just swing that one around and get rid of the one on the backhoe.
Plus when working a lot in reverse, like brushoggin up steep hills it would be nice to have the seat swivel a bit.

Just got around to freeing up the suspension seat of my "economy" tractor. Mine did not move from day one... in fact, it was this thread that got me to act. It took a couple of hours, gave up at one point, but finally got the seat suspension thing to "work". The finished product.... TEGTube - seat working.

This is how it was done. Removing the seat and the four bolts that hold it down was easy. I clamped it to a table and used a pry bar to raise the seat (mine was stuck in it's compressed mode). Once up, I could not force it to get it back down... even jumping up and down on it didn't work. I put a metal tube across the top and used some pipe clamps on the ends to compress it. Once compressed, I would have to pry it open once again. I repeated this process about a million times spraying lube (WD40 & silicone lubricant). Once it started to move: TEGTube - seat progress it gave me hope that it will work more freely.

Is there a better lubricant (penetrating oil??) that I should use. Also, for the original poster... Chip, how often does this freeze up? It looks as if there are no adjustments and either you get one that works or NOT... kuboota quality...

Teg, I've got the Kubota L4330: How did you get your seat off the tractor so you could work on it?

Mine bottoms out since it's been stored outside and I'd really like to look at the guts of the seat to see how I can make it work better.

Thanks,

Not sure how your model is set up. The "Standard" L's only had 4 bolts on the corners. Flip the seat up and you can pull the rod out that allows the seat to flip up. Then you can get to the bolts pretty easy, IIRC. It's been awhile, but I don't remember it being too hard for the basic L models. There are some "Standard" L's that don't have the suspension seats, L3700 (I think).

My bad: I finally got the op manual a day or so ago: very clear pic on one page showing the 6 or so bolts going into the tractor seat/orange frame area. I was looking at the black seat area, not the orange frame/body area.

I got my seat freed up with a 50/50 mix of syn ATF and diesel fuel. The downside? My 275 lbs takes almost all of the seat range of motion leaving only an inch or less for bumps until it bottoms out. The good news: I installed an expedient air ride seat addition. More details later.

Have I mentioned I love my tractor?
