L3710 HST Tachometer

The tachometer was working perfectly. Then I hit some rough terrain and the cable came off. Ther Kubota serviceman put the cable back on, but the RPMs are bouncing all over the place now and are incorrect. He said i need a new tachometer but Kubota only sells complete instrument panels for $885. Anyone have a similar problem with a cheaper solution?? TIA

Me? I'm quite confident I could fix it. Probably a stripped gear.

I'm thinking the cable needs lube or replacement.

The instrument is being fed poor data from the cable?
