Hi all . Well I narrowed it down to these three models there all about 40 horse and I can't make up my mind,

The new holland and the massey are real close and the kubota is about 60 miles away, Massey has the best offer 0.9 percent for 36 months but I like the strength of the new holland and the kubota on lifting weight any way does anybody have any thoughts>?

Oh ya the kubota has the the gst, the new holland has the hydro and the massey has the clutch any Ideas thanks in advance /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

To get to 40 hp, you would have to look at a MF 1540v.

I'm a NH guy, so I'll tell you up front what I like about the NH and you have to make up your mind if that is an issue with you.

The following features of the NH are superior IMO:
1. Operator layout with brakes on left and HST pedals on the right.
2. FEL joystick on the NH has dual-speed buttons for instant gear changes.
3. Sloping hood that lets you see what you are doing better than any other standard layout tractor I've seen.
4. Gas tank behind operator's platform for easy access.
5. Ability to add-on remote hydraulic valves one at a time up to maximum of 3.
6. 16LA loader - I just like it a lot and it has great visibility.
7. A very well thought-out front grill guard bumper that folds down.
8. A hood with a screen built-in to keep debris out of the radiator.
9. One latch and the hood rotates up and open for complete access to the engine, radiator, and battery
10. It's blue. I like blue. Even TBN's webpage is mostly blue. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Not no more Jim...
After your "10. It's blue. I like blue. Even TBN's webpage is mostly blue. " comment I went and changed my page layout to the Kubota theme.
Ahhh...orange, and lovely earthtones.
Cheers, edski

I looked at the Kubota, JD and NH when I purchased my tractor. If your going HST, I like the way the Kubotas hydrostatic is designed. It is easily the smoothest. For GST there is only one manufactuer making that and it does work very well especially the new model on the L30's. For Shuttles, I have not found a tractor brand that I did not like. Jim makes a good point about the brake pedals, if you do snow removal or have a need for differential braking, the only way to do it on the HST Kubota is basically with cruise control which is very easy but only in forward. I personally never use it as we get no snow and to use it on my grass areas would be analgous to using a rototiller, it does tear up the turf. HST does tend to lessen the need for it. As far as color, I due tend to prefer colors other then orange but I can live with it. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I think TBN is mostly white /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

What! No Kubota HST in the choices. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif I will reluctantly have to recommend blue (for my particular needs anyway with a lot of trail and FEL work). By the way, what are your uses for the tractor?

I L-O-V-E your response, edski. I have this mental picture of hundreds of Kubota drivers now changing their colors because of my comment. Ahhh... the power of suggestion. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I can see the obituary now... Jim was a very influential man - he made hundreds change their tbn colors because of one comment.... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

To answer the question - you're not comparing apples to apples. Figure out which tranny you like & then compare amongst the different brands. I'd choose on dealer service before tractor specs.

A couple years ago, I'd say the NH was a couple steps above the Kubota & Deere offerings in the 40 HP range, but both Deere & Kubota have come out with new models recently. I'm not familiar with Massey...

I always figured James would have a headstone that epitomized his life, "Mr No Joy, Joy Stick". As nice as the Blue rigs are, when it comes to HST, they are not quite there yet. Throw in the curved arm loaders, the intstantly selectable range, the slanted hood, the allure of blue and I'm still orange.

Jim, a true professional...

I think it's time to dig out the No Joy Joystick.

Jim, a true gentleman!

I had changed my TBN color to Kubota orange several months ago after I found out about the option. Had to think about the blue color as I am so used to orange.
