Jim, I'm glad your thinking it over and are still considering the L39 inspite of what I have said. I think it best to get the thoughts of folks even if they are not exactly what you want to hear but still come to a conclusion that will work for you. We hope that should you get a L39, you give other folks a good opinion of its ability. Run it a few days and let us know your thoughts. I'm sure there will be plenty of curious folks wanting some first hand knowledge. Rat.

There are times when you need low. I can think of a few like when pulling a boxscraper loaded uphill and you have the traction. Medium is just a bit slow. I would have liked to see 0-6 or 7 mph. On the otherhand, you pretty use M range for all loader work and then go to H to move it if any distance is involved and providing there are no uphills.

Will do. I'll try to write a quality review in that section and post some pictures. -Your L3830 review has been read hundreds of times.

If you have some time, can you check the second post under the original (01/30/05 09:23 PM) and follow the link to the L39 specs....Let me know how wide you think it is and the general size. I'm not sure I'm reading it right. If I am right, it's a lot narrower than the 3830...and the wheelbase is shorter. From the pictures it's looks like it's physically smaller than the 3130 (little tires). The turning radius is definitely smaller so maybe that's the case. Seems to be an interesting size for it's nearly 7000lb weight.

Jim, I've got a 3130 with LA723 and AG tires. Looking over the specs, the L39 chassis seems to be about the same size from what I've determined, maybe 3-4 inch longer wheelbase, but otherwise similiar dimensions. The IND tires on the front end are definetly smaller diameter than INDs on a 3130, although the width appears to be about the same.

I'm planning on investigating it in person real soon, so I'll let you know for sure! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Strange how the two tire sizes have different information.

Front 27 x 10.5-15R4
Rear 15-19.5 R4

Front: I believe the 15 is the wheel diameter and 10.5 is the tire width. 27 is probably the tire diameter.

Rear: 15 is the rear wheel diameter?..and 19.5 is the width? /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

RE the total tractor width: I now believe the quoted 51.8 "tread width" is the width of the tractor from rear tire center-to-center. So if you add 19.5 to the 51.8 you get a total tractor width of 71.3". If these calculations are correct my existing implements will just work. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Jim, I stopped by my Kubota dealer to ask why the mph on my L3830 quit working. It was my fault as I removed the tire size code by holding down the two buttons on the intellipanel and turned the key on. I had forgotten how to reset the maitenance warning. He gave me the manual on assembly of the L30's where it describes exactly how to code your intellipanel based on model and tire selection.
Anyway, I asked a mechanic who gave me the assembly manual if they had any L39's. He said soon and they will be getting 5. He had just gone to school on them. He said the tractor is based on of all things, the L3830. It is the same identical GST and shares many other similarities. He mentioned the primary differences on the L39 over the L35 are more power, sloped hood, more hoe, lower knee loader, seat like the L48. They sell JD, Kubota and other various lines. He thinks the L39 will be great. He said the new GST is basically bullet proof. He has yet to repair one. He had several JD 110's with new transmissions sitting in a box waiting to be replaced. It sounds like the L39 is going to be quite popular. Rat...

I like what I'm hearing....considering I just signed the Retail Purchase Agreement for one about three hours ago. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Champlain Valley Equipment (Lake Champlain) will have delivery details later this week. I trust Kubota's build quality on first year models....especially from what you said about the transmission origin. I hope I can take delivery at some point in February, although I guess it doesn't matter much since there is a foot of snow on the ground with more to come.

Any ideas on those strange tire sizes Rat?

BTW: My dealer sold my L3830 today (one phone call) and kicked back 5% to me. That helps to ease the pain a bit. They're a great dealer.

Thats great on the sale Jim. The mechcanic I spoke to at my local JD/Kubota dealer was pretty impressed. What impresses him more then anything about a tractor is what breaks. If it's tractors, he hates transmission repairs on any transmission because of the time it takes to do the repair. Consequently he said, I've really enjoyed Kubota and left it at that.

You need one.....ya know you do /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif 23gpm in a tight little package. Off with the bucket and the hoe, on with the 72" RFM then back to a TLB. I like that idea a lot.
