L4240 upgrades

I looked the valve stem can not be turned to the inside on the 4240.

Sent from my Samsung SPH-L710 using TractorByNet

That's because you have R4 tires, valve stems always on the outside.

My R-1 ag tires can go either way, because the rims can be turned around. I have them set wide as possible and valve stems are out.

Yeah, there is not much adjusment on these. I can go just a hair wider.

My valve stems are on the outside but I have R1's set to the widest position.

There are four possible wheel spacings on the L4240 (and others; see diagram). Two of the settings have the valve stem facing the inside of the tire. The other two face outside. When I purchased my L4240, it came with the valves facing inwards. I wanted the widest possible width, as I have some very steep terrain, so I had the dealer switch the rims on the wheels (right rim/tire to left side, left rim/tire to right side). Now the valves face outwards. I have R4 tires.

Cool, I didn't know you could flip flop R-4s.

Did not think there would be enough room to flip the valve stem inwards with R4's on a L4240. I bet it is a tight fit. Mine are on the middle setting. If I went wider my 6' box blade would be narrower than the tractor. I think the measurements they list on that chart are to the middle of the tire.

Roger I like that step.. I have been meaning to do the Kioti, but haven't "got a round to it". I did the step on the last tractor the Kubota L3400hst, and it was great, especially in snowy weather.

Thanks James. If linex was not so expensive I would have almost everything covered with it.

I need advice on how to put a turbo on my L5740. Do not reply with negative crap, I don't want to read thru it all. Just tell me how to do it with clear instructions, part numbers, and drawings. It would be really nice if you could just come over and install it for me too. This POS won't pull itself out of it's own tracks in hill gear.

Oh, and I am going to pull a 16 foot batwing mower and a 12 foot land plane when I am done with the turbo project.. and keep your sniggling comments to yourself.. oh... and you all have a nice day!

On my L4240 HSTC,just finished the rear view camera ,thanks to 4Shorts for the idea and help.My other mods have been to add the Green's Machine Thumb(a great addition by the way) and the grill guard after I poked out my grill and battery. The "turbo" will just have to wait!
I used a Tadi Brothers rear view camera and seven inch moniter...looks good right now.To my door price was about $240.00

I say any power upgrade is worth the time and effort.

As for you Philip thanks for the help the project is underway because of the file you posted.

Maybe when time allows Bullet you can post pictures of your running board lights or something else car club oriented.

Wow just wow, pretty sad such a nice forum full of nay sayers who have nothing better to do than paint their fingernails.

I am not going to turbo it. I am taking a different approach. I am going to get rid of this stupid HST+ trans and replace it with a shuttle. Then I can put the thing in hill range and race. I think I could pull a grader with the rippers down through shale no problem after the modification.

How much horsepowers are you shooting for?

I like the expanded metal on the grill guard. I am going to do it the 4240 when I get the time. I am not sure about a back up camera. They are nice on a vehicle but IDK on a compact tractor.

The power upgrade you are talking about is called a bigger tractor. The only thing wrong with your tractor is the nut behind the wheel. Replace it

I actually have a LED light strip for the set. I just have not had a chance to put it on yet.

I can't figure out if you are a troll or you are just really that dumb. It may be both. If you really have this tractor get rid of it. You are never going to be happy with it.

I'd like to see a picture of it with his grader on it.

Sounds like a Troll to me. Very negative, bad attitude, very rude, no pictures, very limited info on why his tractor wont do the work. Does not seem to like Kubota, but bought one anyway. etc etc etc... Reminds me a little of that Case245 guy?

I was thinking the same thing, Maybe old Case just cleaned up his writing a little?

@ OP, nice upgrades.

On the 12V mod, what connector did you end up splicing in? I get how you tapped the power, just not what the end connector was.

I just noticed he is going to trade his Kubota 7040 for a New Holland.
