L4400 vs Grand L 3940 vs John Deere 4105

Mike,
Thanks for the input on the 3 pt hitch, I raised this issue for the benefit of the new tractor buyer. I have some implements that use the heavy duty double socket to pin in the implements and at 1250 lbs. you need I Match or telescopic links to manage them. Thankfully I have all of them, telescopic links, IMatch and top n tilt.

Dex-
Ordered the following....
L4400 tractor with the following "options".
Loaded tires, Factory Service Manual, Quick Attach, Heavy Duty QA bucket, HD QA Pallet Forks.... Called today and ordered the telescoping link ends.

Held off on the following for the following reasons. Most of the thinking was I can get these items added later as necessary, albeit potentially substantially more trouble.
Sunshade- Want a more quickly removable type.
Draft Control- Simply couldn't justify the expense currently.
Block Heater- Yeah, I know I said I was getting it.... a no brainer at 75 bucks, but I've been convinced that even at that price I'm wasting my money on it here (the sunny south).
Drawbar Clevis- Based on some stuff I read, looks like it was going to interfere and have to be removed etc to run implements. Just didn't see that I needed it at this point.
Auxilliary Control Valves- may need these later, but don't need them now and don't anticipate needing any time soon. In other words, I couldn't afford it (har har).
Topntilt- see auxilliary control valves above.
Rear work light- Want to see how it works out without the light before I purchase. May not need. May need two. Basically just decided to wait.
Swinging draw bar- similar to drawbar clevis. Decided that if I'm gonna have to put it on and take it off on a regular basis, I might as well just use one of those bars that go between the lift arms that has holes in it that you can put a ball hitch on etc. Already have one of those. I THINK the only reason I will need the draw bar is if I decide to pull anything really heavy. No need for that for pulling cars and trailers around correct? (meaning I can use the other thing described above for that purpose?)
Toothbar for the bucket- Waiting to see if I need it, and also so I can research it some more.
Cab- Because I really enjoy sweating and freezing my arse off over the course of the year. Read this as I can't afford it.

Land Pride 2072 Tiller with slip clutch

I think that about covers it. So in the grand scheme of things I probably saved myself 50 or so bucks max a month by not getting everything (with the exception of the cab).

Thanks for everyones help in the decision process.
Supposed to take delivery before the weekend.

Congratulations on the purchase!!! Great choices in regards to options, very logical thoughts in making those choices. It's an evolutionary process and you've built a great platform to work from. You are gonna think up all sorts of "necessary" projects to get the opportunity to "work" this tractor, enjoy!!!

Congrats on the new tractor. I know you were doing a lot of research and asking a lot of question to get the right tractor for you. You got a good one. Have fun and be safe on your new tractor

Sounds like you made good calls on what you ordered and I wish that I had known about the Telescoping link ends. I have been satisfied with the machine and I think yo will be as well. Let us know when the big wait is over.
I ordered 1 rear work light and if I had it to do over I would have bought an after market light for the money paid.

Nice job Eddie. Very good due diligence over the last few weeks. I know from your posts that you are going to make and maintain a BX track for your kids, check into an arena rake for maintenance. Used for horse type events/tracks.

Best wishes on building your property.

Eddie, did you get your tractor yet or is today the big day?
Looks like it will work well for you.

Have fun with it.

Ron-
Thanks a bunch!

Steve-
I figured you'd have seen me gloating on here somewhere by now...
Yes, I got the tractor on Friday and it's maiden voyage was Saturday morning. Put 15 hours on it over the weekend. Went VERY well.
