l4400 vs mx4700

I used the pallet of bricks example to try get an idea of its lifting capacity as i might need it to help move some small cabins with the forks altho the forks might be too short for that anyway.

I have seen comments about the L4400 being poor on roll back...is that an important issue when moving lots of dirt.?

Thanks for your opinions and explanations guys. There is so much to learn and am sure glad we have TractorByNet and all the friendly helpful guys who contribute so much experience. Its been a steep learning curve and ive just scraped the surface of all the information i need to operate which ever tractor i eventually get. I'm probably the only guy hes come across who askes so many questions...lol. Thanks again guys.
Not a problem. Buying a tractor is a big investment and you are wise to inform yourself before you buy. I would make sure and do a drive test on the machines before you make your decision.

I find it annoying going down hill with gravel in the bucket and because the bucket doesn't rollback as far as others some gravel may spill out. I have moved a huge amount of dirt and rocks with my L4400HST and it is a strong machine. I add 1200# of ballast on the 3PH and it balances out real well.
If you were doing mostly flat ground work you would not notice it as much. The dump angle would come into play if you were loading trucks with soil.
The farther you can roll the bucket forward the easier it is to empty the bucket of dirt.

Just look up the engine specs. Popular Kubota V3 series, the V3800 is the one I looked up, uses 280 gm/kW-hr in the N/A version, 270 in the turbo version, and 240 in the turbo direct injection version. Doesn't happen in all series but it is a general rule if the design is done right - turbo has better fuel consumption than a N/A and a direct injection engine uses less fuel than indirect injection. Any engine run hard should be idled a few minutes before shutting off to let the hot pots get cooled evenly with coolant flow modern turbos aren't sensitive like some of the older ones. I cringe when some of our test operators dash to their truck at lunch time and turn off the key before the machine before it stops moving but the only turbo I lost was when a mechanic left the air intake hose off after replacing the alternator and the dust chewed off the blades. Didn't do the cylinder walls any good either.

I have a L4400 and yes the loader curl is only 23 degrees I believe. It's really the only think I dislike about the tractor. The only downfall I've seen so far is you lose some material
capacity from not being able to curl back as far. I've moved an entire tractor trailer load of recycled asphalt (from pile
into dump truck) in about 2 - 2.5 hours. Not to bad if you
ask me. The time includes filling the truck and waiting for the truck to return be filled again. Multiple trips
