I really hate to post this question because I've bothered you guys enough with 'buying advice':D but I just have to get your opinions.

I looked at a '03 Kubota L4610 with FEL, Landscape rake, boxblade, and quick attach forks. It is 4x4 HST with 500 hrs of use on it, it has been garage kept and in very good condition from the looks of it. It seems to have been well maintained and the owner claims to have changed the oil every 200hrs, it is on its 3rd oil change. all the implements are in good shape aside from the forks, they are a little beat up from moving logs around (which is exactly what I'll be doing with them until I can buy my grapple)

He was originally asking 17,500 and I talked him down to 16k. My question is do you guys think that this is a fair, good, or bad price for this package in New England? He seems to think that I am 'stealing' it from him because it is in such good shape, but I don't think its as good of a deal as he is thinking???

Sounds like a steal for 16k:two on www.tractorhouse.com..with FEL 1200hrs.$19,000..one with no FEL..500hrs $14,000
garage kept,maintainance ,with implements...jump on it,500 hrs.not even broken in.Mine is a 2008 and I have 360hrs.

the hours are low.but in all honesty i dont know if id give $16,000 for a 7yr old tractor.when you could put another $9000 with it an step up to a MX5100 HST 4x4 with a LA844 loader.

I think that is a good to great price for the tractor, FEL and attachments. Probably $1K in used attachments. I recently looked at a 2005 L4630 GST with 600 hours, extra hydraulics and TNT for $14K but I passed. It has been outside most of its life and the grey paint and rims were sun faded.

Bigbull,
If you want to throw in the extra 9 grand I'll spring for the MX5100???

Just kidding, you have a good valid point but quite honestly that extra 9,000 dollars can go a long ways for me right now. I'm trying to get into a decent sized tractor that will do most of what I need it for, for around this price point. I really wanted the new 5740 with cab but its just not in the cards right now.
I think I will probably go for it but I have a few days to decide. Right now I'm leaning towards pulling the trigger. I know everyone I know wants me to buy it, but that's just so I can stop talking about 'wanting' to buy a tractor. haha

I would buy it.

If you wait just a little longer, you might find out that someone else bought it, (meaning that it was a good price), or someone else didn't buy it (meaning that the price is too high).

This theory saves you a lot of time and trouble.

And, if other people don't want it, maybe they won't want to steal it or borrow it (but they also now may want to do both). That's why you should wait until Spring or maybe Summer, you know, when its a better time for other people to buy it so that they won't bother you with asking to use it.

If other people want it at the asking price, then you saved a lot of money that can now be spent when you are more desperate for killing a tractor with a gun (like you said). That means you can borrow their tractor (tell them it was almost yours). This saves the trouble of having to fix up a tractor that you loan out to your buddies that gets returned with damage or wear. Now you can have some fun with it and not worry about such things.

Hope this solves your problem once and for all. This Purchase Decision Theory has worked splendidly for me. I only buy things that nobody wants.

Next question !

Well guys looks like I'm gonna pull the trigger. I'll hopefully be able to pick up the tractor on friday and if not it should be the beginning of next week. This is my first tractor that I can call my own and although its not one of those big brand new beauties that many of you have I'm pretty darn proud to be joining the ranks of actual tractor ownership. Thanks to everyone who has helped me along the way, not only on this thread but also on the other's I've asked about.

Special thanks to Grandad for his information and advice.

Now its time start learning hydraulics, operation, extra add ons I need, and safety. Thanks again. :D

Congratulations on your new tractor, I was about as excited to get our "new" Ford 841 over thirty-five years ago as I was to get my "new" L5030 or brand new M8540.
