All you L5030 owners, could the components from your 3 point hitch be attached to a 4630/4330/3830 to provide a Cat I/II hitch? I'm guessing at the tranny break the smaller 3130 and 3430 won't accept the components.

I have access to many cat II implements that I would like to take advantage of.

slowzuki, according to the owners manual, which includes models L3130 thru L5030 only the L5030 has both category 1 & 2 three point hitch. To change from a category 1 to 2 on my L5030 I must remove a collar in the three point hitch where the pin inserts.
L3130, L3430, L3830, L4330, have category 1 only.

If you are suggesting using the L5030 three point hitch on another smaller tractor....I don't know... but there is probably a weight issue.

TxDon, I had a chance to look at a 5030 next to a 3830 on the weekend.

The arms and mounts appear to be identical on both except the 5030 seems to have lower arms with a 5 mm deeper profile. The extenders appear to be 5 mm deeper too.

My thought is with a little machine work I could use the extenders from the 5030 on a smaller one.

One could buy the 5030 lower arms and swap but that would be $$$.

The reason is the neighbours have some stuff set up for Cat 2 that isn't heavy and I would like to borrow.

If you are willing to do machine work, there are balls that have both holes. You could replace the Cat. 1 balls with Cat. 1 / 2 balls.

Mmm, I don't think I can forge something as big as a lift end to get the new ball to stay in!

I could get a pair of weld on ones with the 2 hole sizes!

The equipment I would be borrowing is a mix of I/II connections, the owners just slap the Cat II hitch on the cat I pins and go! I don't know if thats the best idea either.

you can get sleeves for converting CatI to CatII - otherwise you end up with knarly egg shaped hitch holes /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yup I know, but the farmer neighbour has never used em.

I started looking at the stuff and realized most stuff he had was Cat 1 even though his tractors were all Cat 2. I think I should just change the pins on the the rest of his equipment!

3 bottom plow Cat 1 only
Tooth harrow Cat 1 / 2 combo
Woodsplitter Cat 1
Fertilizer spinner Cat 1
Bushhog Cat 1/2 combo
