I currently have an L3710 HST and could use a little more hp and a cab. I was going to put an aftermarket cab on it and have decided to look into upgrading to a higher hp model with cab. I have a 7' Lorenz 3 pt blower and a 400' driveway, which drifts really bad. I also mow about 5 acres of lawn with a 6' 3 pt mower (I know, a lighter mower would be better), and use it for light loader work and hauling logs out of the woods for firewood. I've found a used L5030 with factory cab and loader, one rear remote, and just over 600 hrs for $26,000. The tractor appears to be a very clean one owner machine. I think this would be a nice upgrade in hp (50 vs 37) to better handle my blower and definitely be more comfortable in winter with the cab. Is this a good price? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I bought a 2003 GL5030 HSTC a couple of years ago equipped just the same with a HD bucket. I paid $24k for it felt like it was a steal and added a LP BB and RCR2672 with the money I saved over buying new. It is an excellent tractor.

that sounds like a real good price to me as well.

My experience with my 5030 HSTC (a few years ago now) was that the a/c was weak. Other than that it was a nice medium sized little tractor with a good heater I might add.

I had several issues with the a/c including ruptured hoses and it's inability to keep the cabin tolerable on hot days.

If you go from an open station to a cab model be apprised that because it's a cab, going places an open station tractor can go, gets very expensive, very quickly, with a cab.

Don't ask me how I know, but a door (drivers or passangers side) just the glass, no hardware is almost a grand to buy....:)

I had also heard the AC on the 5030 was weak and prior to buying asked some owners including TexasJohn who also owns one just like mine. I had the unit checked out by my dealer who found the evaporator located in the top of the cab needed cleaning and it needed a little coolant. SE Missouri is very hot and humid in the summer and I stay cool in my 5030 though at times I do run it on recirculate as opposed to bringing fresh air in.

5030, weren't you the one who put a flap on the sides for aide in cooling?

So, the $26,000 price seems in the ball park? These don't seem to lose much value after 5 years. I read somewhere that the AC temp differential is 15 degrees. I've never had a cab model before, nor a sun shade, so I may feel more comfortable mowing with the windows/doors open and no AC vs baking in the sun. Good point on being careful in the woods. Does anyone know what my 2000 L3710 HST w/ factory FEL, no remotes, 862 hrs would be worth? I was thinking around $13k. Thanks for the responses. I think the L5030 would suit my needs quite nicely.

Yes, the price seems reasonable to me; Kubotas and this model seems to retain value really well. I really felt lucky to find mine just as it hit the dealer's lot. The owner brought it in for service with his ZTR and RTV when he spotted a new 5740 and traded for it. I knew it wouldn't last long. They threw in a valve adjustment and full service as well as free delivery.

As mentioned, I am comfortable in SEMO summers; might want to confirm with TexasJohn or Slowzuki. We also run a M8540 cab and have owned a Case cab, if the AC didn't work, I would sell it as I can't handle the heat.

I keep limb loppers in my tractor, but have gone around and trimmed some limbs and I am not worried about a few scratches.

Sorry; don't know the value of your old tractor.

That price is pretty good for the hours and in good shape. I wouldn't sell mine for that and it has more than twice the hours. (Prices are bit higher here too).

My a/c is always cold enough to give me a shiver in the summer, getting in on a 33 C day the cab is about 23-25 C. I think thats about a 20 f difference. You have to blow the evaporator out religiously though, I have a special piece of copper bent up that goes on my air gun to slide in a blow it out every day while haying. Dust gets in and plugs the passages, not just the fuzz and crud on the screens.

We use these, is it similar to what you use?
