Thank you Sir!! That really helps me understand how it works. I think I just have to make a place on my quick change adapter to attach the lift arms and then fabricate the kick stand arms.

More questions; my loader valve has three hoses: Pressure, Return, and Power Beyond. My aftermarket remote valve is fed by the power beyond from the loader valve. When I remove the loader, will the power beyond hose that I remove from the loader valve have to be connected to the pressure line quick disconnect to supply the remote valve? Will anything more have to be done to to the hydraulics in order to run without the loader?

The aftermarket valve should have a power-beyond hose going to the lowest connector by the fuel filter. If it does, that hose would stay put when taking off the loader. The pressure hose now going to the loader valve would power the aftermarket valve instead.

Are you pretty sure the boom has to be removed? Sometimes being able to drop the bucket makes enough difference.

Take care, Dick B

Thanks for verifying the hose routing. I'll be working toward getting things together to eventually separate the tractor and loader, and in the meantime see how it maneuvers without the bucket or forks.

It could take some planning to involve the QA in a moment-carrying connection.

FWIW I have a very fast and neat fixture for removing the loader. There's a concrete back wall in my garage that I cinch-anchored two pieces of iron to, located about 1" above the floor. I slide the front edge of the bucket under them against the wall, take out the wedges and front bolts and simply roll the bucket back, lifting the loader off. I secure the boom with a chain from a ceiling beam and release the hyd. pressure so it's safe.

A cool variation would be to anchor a QA plate to the wall !

That L5450 is a whole lot better looking than I had imagined. Actually it looks pretty fair if you ask me. I am not seeing much of the skid plate, hopefully it serves its purpose well. You will get a lot of work out of that girl. Nice save.

Dick I like your loader removal device. I like making use of what you have. Concerning using the QA for loader removal, I've attached a picture of the side of the QA where the arms would attach. Looking at the pages from the loader manual you sent, I'm thinking that a hole for the arm attaching bolt could be placed in the same approximate position as it is in the sketch from the manual so the arm will lock against the bucket as it rolls backward. Judging from the pictures the attachment holes would be about 2/3 of the way up between the arm pivot and the cylinder attachment points. The unpainted part in the picture below is the fork plate and would be replaced by the bucket. Is my thinking flawed? I really want to get to where I can remove the loader as intended.

Tom, Thanks for your comments. The skid plate is obvious as you walk up to the tractor because you are looking down on it. It would be necessary for use in areas where objects on the ground would snag hoses, filters, and linkage. I'm glad it is there. It is attached by about 12 bolts to the tractor and loader undercarriage, so it will drop down pretty easily. I'll drop it down and paint it Kubota gray and it will look a lot better.

Gene - I found these pictures that may be of use.

The first pic shows the small triangular block that's welded to the bucket flange to limit the range of motion of the lower bars when they are held against the side with the bolts.

The other shows my LA1150 parked on its stands. As you can see the stands are in plane with the sides of the boom. The ends wedge against the small triangular plate on the bucket flange at just the right angle so the stands hold the boom high enough to clear the tires for going in and backing out - everything needs to be about right for it to work. (Note my cushy flat floor area like the manual recommends )

I'm sure you could fab something similar. My guess is the forklift attachment wouldn't be heavy enough to balance the boom - it would need to have the bucket attached to pivot forward and lift off the tractor. I even leave my bucket-mounted forks in place for extra decisive weight in pulling the posts up and off (they can be a little sticky)

I believe I can make it work. Which end of the bar is up against the bucket, the end with the small foot on it or the end with a diagonal cut on the corner? I can't tell for sure by the picture.

I see now with the pictures. I was typing while your were editing your previous post. It looks like you changed your cylinder mounting points to gain bucket height?

Good eye - that sketch was for another TBN member clinter36 whose LA950 didn't seem to raise very far. Thread here. To get more lift, blocks could be added to relocate the pin. (could test the idea in wood to be sure the low position was still acceptable - then make the real ones out of steel).

Congrats on the tractor, I think it looks very good. You can tell it has been used but appears to have been taken care of and not abused. Good find!
