L6060 3rd Function Hose Guard

Hilbilly - there is a DEFINITE difference between the routing on my 2009 M6040 and your 2019 L6060. My hydraulic lines come out on the side of the transmission case - and are routed UP and on the inner side of the FEL rear post. There is still the shield - like you built. But nothing hangs down quite like the shield as shown in your one picture. Mine is a WR Long third function and was installed by my local Kubota dealer.

I'll get some pics and post here a bit later. This is not an easy place to get a GOOD photo.

That's definitely a better setup than what I have.

You know, life just isn't fair. My setup MIGHT be a little bit better than yours. I will NEVER know. My 80 acres is bunch grass, two lakes and ancient Ponderosa pines. I have found absolutely NOTHING in the 38+ years here that could catch up on anything under either of my two tractors. If the bunch grass would ever get tall enough - it could wipe some of the mud off the underside of my tractor. The bunch grass actually DOES wipe the underside of my ATP clean as I boom around the property.

My situation is a little different. I live on 132 acres and it is mostly treed with a few open areas. I'm in the process of making an FEL mounted brush mower so I can trim the tree branches that grow over our fence line and encroach on our trails. That process will drop a lot of branches (some over 2" diameter) onto the ground and I will be driving over them. I just know there would be problems if I didn't make the protective shield and even with that there is a chance a branch could get into the end of the shield and cause some grief. But the shield should reduce the chances. The better solution would be to reroute the lines.

Ok, after my tractor being at the dealer for a little over a month, I finally got it back and mostly fixed. I can't say the same for the backhoe, but let's get back to the third function...

They put 45 ells on there and created a guard. It actually looks pretty good. So here are some pics.

Edit: If you see anything of concern here, please say something! It looks good to me, but they did other things I thought was a good idea and they were not.

Kubota and the dealers know what the issues are with these hoses. I find it shameful that they sell stuff like this to people. I told my dealer I would not take delivery unless they put a plate on as shown here on an earlier post. They did and I have not had an issue.

I stated the above on the "orange tractor forum" and one of the mod's took issue with me over it. Said it was not meant to be a forestry machine....yadda yadda. Things went downhill from there..... Not sure how some mis-guided folks can defend this situation.....but there are fan-boy's out there.

Much of what Kubota does, is done well....but there are these glaring exceptions. Some seem so easy to fix....not sure why they do this. Just like not offering a decent grille guard.....duh??? Why would you NOT sell folks a better protection for such a vulnerable area??? LOTS of us are using grapples and handling brush. MANY of us would pay a fair price for a decent grille guard. Not that it is hard to make.....but many of us do not have those skills, time or desire to do so.

OK....rant over. :D.

That's one of the nice things about a free market.

One can always buy elsewhere.

I agree but I liked the Grand L well enough that I decided to buy anyway. I am having a skid plate made. I will post photos when it is complete.

I also agree and don't understand why this simple fix has not been implemented. Kubota has spent the time and effort to make sure the whole undercarriage piping and plumbing is well protected. Everything is tucked up into the framework or has some sort of protective plate. I could understand if this 3rd function was an aftermarket kit but it is an OEM kit and not cheap at that.

Here is a copy of the pic I sent to my dealer about my suggested change to the plumbing.

This change wouldn't cost anything and produce a much better installation.

Besides this and the hokey 3PTH stop lever, everything else I've experienced, so far, with this tractor says "Premium Quality" to me.
