When I bought my L6060 I was aware that, being a hydrostat and a large one, it would be thirsty, and it is. Moreover, it appears to make little difference how heavily it is loaded as about 2,400 engine RPM is needed to maintain 540 PTO RPM.

What king of fuel consumption are you other owners seeing?

At FULL load the L6060 should consume approximately 3.0-3.5 gallons per hour. Philip.

I believe L6060 fuel consumption is influenced more by the engine turbocharger, mechanically forcing air and fuel into the engine, than the HST transmission. The air is 'free' you pay for the fuel.

The L4060 has 148.5 cubic inch engine generating 42 gross horsepower.

The L6060 has 148.5 cubic inch turbocharged engine generating 62 gross horsepower, about 50% horsepower increase and 50% increase in fuel consumption.

That's good to know.

Mine does not use nearly 3.* GPM.

According to the charts Kubota Engine Division publishes, the 6060 direct injection engine uses about 20% less fuel than the 5740 indirect injection engine. I will use 4 on my 5740 if I am really working hard.
