Yeah, the LA1055 + HD bucket is a good combo. When I was moving the dirt pile left over from excavating our house and got a bit aggressive, managed to lift the rear even with filled tires(~800lbs) and ~700lb flail mower on the back.

Can speak highly enough of the Grand L, between HST+ and the weight over the standard L they're great machines.

Wow!! The machine I had today would not quite lift the rear end with just a box blade on the rear (no ballast in tires).

I checked the bucket again and it says it's a "Light Material" bucket not "Light Duty". Not sure what the difference would be though.

I really like the HST+ too. Plus the tractor just sounds good as it's operating. No weird noises that don't sound right.

Here’s my little remedy for the no toolbox issue..$10 at Home Depot, Velcro’s around that bar. IMG_3094.jpg

I thought it would get in the way vision wise but I don’t go through the woods so it’s not an issue. Can be mounted on either side and can slide back and forth. No it doesnt hold a big log chain but it does hold a few hand tools, pins etc...

The bucket on this tractor has a tag on the back that states it's light duty.

I discovered the problem with this demo tractor being rough riding and making it hard to operated the throttle. The rear tires are not loaded and even with the bucket empty the back end is too light and bounces around. I put a homemade weight on the 3PTH that weighs about 900lbs and then the tractor rode much better.

I do the same thing with the treadle, ie use my toes to operate the forward and reverse functions. Rocking back and forth is just too uncomfortable. I think this will just take some getting used to.

Right now I'm leaning toward getting the L6060 but I need to think about it some more and talk to the dealer about a few issues and pricing before I make my final decision.

If I go for this tractor I will definitely get the HD bucket.

I too do not like the HST pedal on my L6060. Like some of you, I use the right side extension for both F and R, lifting with my toe for R.

I bought a 4 in 1 bucket with my ROPS L6060. The 4 in 1 bucket is probably twice as heavy as the standard bucket, compromising payload.

I change/repair my own tires so never use liquid ballast. I have two cast iron weights on each rear wheel. Still, it will not back up a slight incline on gravel with an empty bucket unless in FWA. I've ordered two more weights to bring it up to the maximum three for each rear wheel. This will not help much but will make it a bit less dangerous when maneuvering on hills with empty bucket and nothing on the three point. For any FEL work aside from moving a log around, I use the Cat II weight box bought with my M9960 that is suitable for use with either tractor and is filled with unopened bags of playground sand from Lowes.

Biggest complaint that I have with my 6060 is the useless position control lever stop.

The light material bucket is meant for mulch and other light weight bulky material. It is larger than the 72" HD bucket

Wow, I just checked out the position control stop and can't believe how totally useless that thing is. Why would a company put such a piece of garbage on their tractor. I'm sure there is a very simple fix and yet Kubota chooses to continue using this. It does not speak well to their quality standards. Makes me question the rest of the tractor. What else is lurking in hidden places that they choose not to rectify? I'm returning the Demo tractor today and I'm going to ask the salesman to show me how to use it. After he is done attempting to adjust it, I should be able to get a price reduction on the tractor,.

I sure hope the HD bucket is not smaller. This LM bucket is small enough. The bucket on my current Massey is a lot bigger but it is an aftermarket one.

I can tell you that the JD position stop on their premium R tractors isn’t any better. Totally cheaped out on it.

Well I took the Demo back and talked to the salesman about the things I like better on the Massey and the things I like better on the Kubota. I also asked him to show me how to use the 3PTH lever stop. I laughed as he struggled to get it to work and then asked why Kubota would put such a useless thing on their tractors. I was surprised when he started to defend it. I told him this was more suited to a cheapo Chinese tractor that sold for a LOT less, not on a top of the line PREMIUM tractor. I said it speaks volumes to me about how much Kubota really cares about the details on their tractors. It still bothers me that something so obvious and easy to fix has not been addressed. But in the end I made a deal on a new L6060. It is still Japan and should arrive in the Toronto warehouse in about a month or so and then a week or 2 before it gets to my dealer and then they have to put on the loader, fill the tires, etc. The only option I decided to get for now is the 3rd function kit. I think the standard seat will be fine but there is an area at the bottom rear that rubs against my butt. Hoping it will pack down and adjust to my body. I asked about the HD bucket and the salesman said he has sold about 1500 Kubota's with the standard LM bucket and never sold an HD one or had a complaint about the LM one. So I took his advise and stuck with the stock one. They did not have any HD ones in stock to even look at.

So now the wait begins.

I have a piranha tooth bar on my bucket & really like it. Helps support the bottom of the bucket & doesn't get in the way. No issues with back dragging like a normal tooth bar. although it would turn you into a pirate if you kicked it with your shin. I assume it digs better, but I got it with the machine so can't compare it to no cutting edge.

Congrats!

I think once you get used to the differences you’ll really like the Kubota over the Massey. At least I am. Yes there’s a few things the Massey has that beats the Kubota but they’re minor, and the Pluses outweigh the minuses in my opinion.

I've been thinking about my first uses for the tractor, when it arrives and one will be digging a bunch of post holes using a Post Hole Auger (PHA). I bought one last year and have only used it a couple of times on my previous non DPF tractor and thought the best speed was just above an idle as it was easier to react if it felt like it was trying to get hold of a large rock. Now I'm wondering what will happen if I use this for a few days operating at just above an idle speed. Will the DPF filter clog and cause problems or will it just go into a regen more often. Of course that will mean I may have to stop working unless I find the higher RPM's at regen speed to be ok.

Anyone have experience with something similar, ie days of operation at idle or using a PHA at higher speed in rocky soil?
