Asian Beetles are what you have. Last year at our old house on one of the Finger Lakes of NY, we had the Asian Beetles by the thousands. My wife has the Lady bugs in her plant room by design and the color and markings are different. I would kill twenty a day all winter in the house and still find more Asian Beetles the next day. Just caulk up the cracks so they won’t get in.

We are certified organic (OTC -1988) and would love to have your problem.
The ladybug build up happens every year about this time on the West Coast.
Ladybugs are insects you want to keep around. They are on the top of the beneficial insects list. So my advice is try not to kill too many of them and otherwise enjoy them. They are great the way they each eat over 200 aphids a day!

If the bugs are swarming inside the house, you might want to investigate that more closely. I think that is an infestation and not really a "lady bug" breed. I say this from second hand experience learned from someone else. Call a few exterminators and see if you can get more information via the telephone.

North of Los Angeles, about 15 miles up the Angeles Crest Hwy is a small canyon called "Lady Bug Canyon". (Its on some of the trail maps.)
During spring, they hatch out by the billions. You can't help stepping on them on the trail and you can even smell them. Every stick, twig and branch has hundreds or thousands of ladybugs on it.
A quick scoop and you can fill a coffee cup packed to the brim with them in about 10-seconds. Its quite remarkable.

We've had the same problem in Kentucky the last few years. We just sweep up when necessary.

Asian beetles have taken over and they like to come into your house because it's warm ... not only do we have them but we have the "Love-Bugs" ...

I have the same problem in Southeast MI. But we went from Ladybugs to swarms of fireflies. You would walk outside and they would be all over the garage doors, windows, vinyl siding, and of course you. They would fly into your hair and ears.

The same thing has happened here in South Central Michigan. For about 3 or 4 years now they have been getting worse and worse. Litterally millions would be flying and climbing around our house and pole barn on a warm fall day. Inside, even though our house and barn are well sealed, we might get dozens that we'd have to vacuum up. The barn was always the worse. Every month or so through the fall and winter I could sweep hundreds of the dead bugs up. Hallelujah, this year, not a single one. Folks around here are thinking since last year was the worse yet that there has been a collapse in their population. Hopefully it will last!
