Ladybug Swarm

Hi DaveM,

I'm in Tioga county, too. Haven't been having your stinkbug problem, but thats OK with me. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif We have been having a number of Ladybugs getting into the house to hibernate. Nothing that I would call a swarm, though. This has been happening the last 4-5 years. I do believe they are an import, not the American Ladybug. The vacuum is the best means of disposal. Who knows, maybe the dust bag makes the best hibernating place! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Had the same problem yesterday. Had to vacuum up *thousands* of them from all the rooms on the sunny side of the house...the managed to get in every concievable little crack...

JohnS,

Howdy neighbor!

Wow, there seems to be a lot of TBN members from NY... maybe more than any other state?

I'm almost afraid to look in our central vac cannister!

We have the same problem in Tennessee...I've had a Chevy Truck since 1993 and every year they hatch in the cab of my truck. I've never heard of them biting...not good! 8>(

Dave,

I can't recall being bitten by a ladybug but the Asian Beetles we have swarming here do. They are more orange in color compared to the red of the ladybugs and more agressive to boot. I generally kill them by impact and leave the ladybugs alone.

Good luck,
Michael

We have the same problem this time each year here in Alabama. Those ladybugs come in by the zillions! In a couple of weeks it all passes and everything back to normal.

Amazing, this time last year you could hardly walk outside without crushing them, this year I don't
think I've seen one! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Also noticed that the Japan beatle population was down quite a bit. My Rose-of-Sharon, which last year
was totally wiped out, is still in bloom.

My wife has notice the same up here as well..for last year whe would take a mini vac and suck them from the kitchen windows and plants..but this year maybe a couple here and there..not even enough for the cat to chase.

Wow,

That is just what I've been thinking lately and can't believe what a difference it is compared to last years infestation. Does anyone know why? Also why we had so many last year?

I heard they start in New York to control an insect 3 or 4 years ago, than started to drift toward upper northeast at a good rate /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Maybe these type of lady bugs couldn't have off springs?? or the strange weather affected them..I to very interested why.
