Lake effect rain and snow...

Here is a link to the current radar image to our area. Shows you how the wind blowing over the lakes picks up moisture from the unfrozen lake and dumps it on the cooler ground. If you are interested.... It basically never stops, just meanders over the area whenever it feels like it. One minute it can be sunny and clear, the next you can't see to drive....

Ya.. I moved South to try to get away from that crap, but the Wife wouldn't move far enough.. I still get the occasional; Lake Effect..

Cool map and looks like some cold stuff already. I'm originally from the thumb. Croswell, half hour North of Port Huron. Was just up there bow hunting week before last. It was surprisingly warm that week. I remember days as a kid where it would drop 45 degrees in an hour and storms come out of nowhere. We had some really heavy lake fog in the mornings a couple weeks ago where we could hardly see 3 feet in front of the truck. Hard to describe. Couldn't even see oncoming headlights at 5 am until they were 15 to 20 feet in front of you.

I don't get up in the thumb area much, but they seem to get stuff like you discribe on the west side of the bay thru to the Zilwakee bridge when I am zooming on I-75 ... Sure had nice looking corn in that area this year.
