Anyone who knows me knows me what the first picture is all about. The second picture is from an observer with a critical eye's perspective.

The third picture reflects the end of a good day. That pile of tailings from the pier holes is getting it's due.

Great pics Harvey!!

With piers that deep, there should never be any movement in the foundation. Is that how they are building homes in that area? I've heard of them going down over 30 feet for homes on a hill in California, but I've never seen anybody do that deep here in Texas.

Thanks for all the great pictures. Steph and I are looking forward to following your progress.

I don't think it could possibly be operator error. Everytime it seems to me it's been the ground's fault.

Why I wouldn't even suspect operator error. Of course it was the grounds fault.:D

This ought to be a fun project to be involved with I feel. The client has a timber lease about twenty or so miles away with lots of mature eastern red cedar. He's talking about having a crew harvest and mill the lumber for the cedar for everything under the floor joists plus the siding and some of the interior accents. It won't be a typical north Texas casa de estancio if you know what I mean.

If there is any way to dig a storm celler as part of the project aht would be worthwhile. I know that you don't build out full basements, but a storm celler in case of a tornado wold be great to have espcially with did you say 10 kids.

Double doggone darn James! Are you really moving to Austin? If you do you'll have to join the Balcones Forge blacksmiths. They're the greatest.

Give Barb a hug for us. We're hoping we can make it to Eddie's octoberfest. It's happening the same time we usually head out west to visit dad.
