Looks like you struck out pretty good jenkinsph! I did get some more done on my landplane today, had to do parts errands today so didn't have time to stop to get a couple plow edges. also have to get a new 7/8 drill bit as I broke one in about 10 seconds. Should have it hooked up to the tractor tomorrow, then just have to make the rounded skids, finish the blades holes and weld on the blade support! The last picture is how I cut the upright for the toplink to keep it from breaking the weld, but it's all taking shape now!

Looks good:thumbsup: Are you going to set the blades straight or angled.

Also do you see using it primarily for driveway work or land leveling?

Thank you! I can't wait to see your "mini" landplane, I am setting them straight. In the picture there are just setting in it and won't be at that angle. It will be mostly for driveways and irrigation lanes but also for the big parking areas that are uneven and potholed. On occasion it will be used for smoothing and finishing new yards, also we do new orchards, plant grass, and trees. So this will be very interesting on how it works this summer.

It's really neat following you guys and your projects, makes me want to build something, too, and get in some welding practice.

If someone had told me two years ago I'd be drooling over a pile of steel, I'd have thought they were nuts. Not any more!:laughing:

stopped at the plow dealer today he only had 1 cutting edge so i got that (which when i got home i cant use it), and then he asked how about some 3/8 hardened steel. so i got that to 3/8 x 3 x 64 1/2. perfect then got some 1/4 x 4 x 64 1/2 hardened steel. also got 20 plow bolts and nuts. then he said take it! no charge. its scrap anyway. all he said was to just keep buying snow plows from him! so i'm pretty happy :D .Now all i got welded up today was the hitch, was welding the top link on didn't realize one of the flat pieces got welded crooked but hey it works, going to pick up actual pins tomorrow (used bolts today). All i have in this right now is only a whopping $15 :thumbsup: as for the blades im going to to put the 3/8 on front and the 1/4 on back with straight blades and 1/2 deep! should have this working this weekend and with some better pictures.

I got it finished and I can't believe how well this works. Been using it all day on bad potholed lanes. Why didn't I have a landplane sooner, for real hard packed I run it a couple extra times and turns out fine! I'll have pictures up later

So how did you finish off the ends...and...yes we need pics! :D

Here's some pictures, I was using it on some lanes as the ruts were very bad and it smoothed out very good. But I'm going to look for a landscape rake as the rocks are pretty good size that the landplane is bringing up. hopefully CL will bring out something good.

If you think it works good now.... Put 6 or 8 scarifiers in the front. It makes a enormous difference. You can rip out the potholes and not just fill them.

Catdozer,
What I do when I bring rocks up such as yours is carry them as far as possible then scoop them up with the fel to remove. Then run the plane again. I don't necessarily try to dig up the large rock beneath a drive if I can avoid it, usually I would smooth the base course above the rocks. While I agree with ripping out the potholes and a boxblade can do that if you have one you might consider a heavy home made roller build instead of a landscape rake.

Keep up the good work,:thumbsup::)

I am going to try to build the mini plane later this week and will post pics.
