If your looking for 1950,s type workmanship today you might as well forget it.Being a old fart and somewhat little **** myself it,s very sad we have lost the art of doing a good job and doing things correct.I think we can blame ourselves somewhat for wanting cheaper prices and better value as in wal-mart-China products.

it's an outdoor equipment. not a big deal. if you let it go I doubt you will out live it. I've purchased new blades and things - brand new - but sitting outside on dealers lots that are in worse shape. if you like things perfect, then you're going to have to add these items to your to-do list.

Unfortunately no one does an adequate job of preparation of the metal prior to painting. For a good paint job, the metal needs a good sandblasting and degreasing then a primer matching the topcoat specification. Using an incompatible primer will cause flaking of the top coat. Most places (not just farm equipment) don't properly prepare the metal and many use a one coat system to paint. Powder coating while hard to scratch, will break off just as your photos show when struck hard like with a chain binder, they don't scratch, they break.

Just get some acrylic enamel buff it off/sand it to roughen the edges, clean off the surface rust, apply rust reformer and touch it up with spray paint.
