A few years back I sold my rake due to lack of use. I've come to regret that choice and been watching CL for either a Woods 7' rake or Landpride,Frontier unit. I've passed on several that seemed too much for there condition.

So I figured I'd just bite the bullet and pick up a new unit. Made some calls to the local dealers and almost dropped the phone. A Woods 7' without wheels $1200. Another $350 for the wheel. Landpride was about the same. So what boggles the mind is the rear blade and rake are relativly similar in materials yet cost is alot less. Is this just supply and demand or highway robbery.

I've looked into the cheaper brands that TSC sells and I don't feel they're as robust as Woods or LP. Is it just the overpriced region that I'm in or am I missing something?

I have a 72" landscape rake from TSC. I was very satisfied with the price and it has held up very well. it rakes about 60 acres a year along with putting in several lawns a year and cleaning up the landing at my log pile which is an acre in itself. I would not trade it for any other brand. Sorry i have no pics of it. i feel it is a great piece of equipment and good price at 500$ now i dont' think you can go wrong . . .John

I picked up a used heavy duty rake for $300. Lots of rust but all the teeth in good shape. LOVE IT. Has made my work much easier. Going rate is $300-400 used around me and $800 and up new...

I actually was looking at the unit they've started to produce. It looks like a decent unit and shipping is free. I only wish they offered it in other color's.
But not a deal breaker, I don't like how the gauge wheels attach to it though.
I'm going to keep an eye on CL for a little longer. I just can't understand the cost, is it just the demand for them?

I picked up a 6' Rhino with the wheels for 200 bucks on Craigslist. Keep a sharp eye and be ready with cash when the deal pops up. I bought the unit within 30 minutes of it appearing and his phone was ringing while I was looking. I put it on the tractor this week and tried it out. It did not do a whole lot on my senderos. I am hoping to put it to use leveling out a food plot once the dozer goes through.

I agree. I bought the same rake last weekend and got a chance to use it this weekend as well. Not the heaviest piece of equipment in the world, but seems well-built, especially for the price.

I've been looking with eagle eye's for the last year. I'm not complaining about the last of used unit's. My question is more towards the cost of the tool. The mast of the rearblade and rake is interchangable and the tine cost is known. So the only extra part is the tine holder which is mostly carbon steel angle iron and fasteners. So hoe why is the rake so much more? My thought is the market place.
