Picked up a very used used and tweeked Leinbach 8 footer (from CL) for my GL3240 a few weeks ago. Ordered 10 replacement tines from AgriSupply for the 9 that were missing. Got a box each of grade 8 3/8-16x1.5 bolts, nuts & 2 boxes of washers.
Spent some quality time with it today, removing two jiggly & frozen hitch pins and untweeking one side of the L to which the tines are bolted. Grandpa's big old Stilson & a 5' piece of pipe for leverage did the trick after I broke what looks to be a pot metal casting on a comically huge HF pipe wrench. Eventual plan is to get an 8' section of 2x2 square tube to weld to the flange of the L to avoid repeating this effort. I strongly suggest looking for a rake with tines bolted to a closed section - much better torsional strength than an L or C channel.
Removing the hitch pins was the worst job I have attempted in a long time. Lots of Kroil, oil, torch, Kroil, oil, torch action with 3/4 drive breaker bar & 5' cheater pipe interludes. The folks over the hill could probably hear the shreiking of the threads. Should have cut them with the torch. Guess I am stubborn.
Didn't realize it was 8' when I picked it up - thought it was a 7. Not sure if I can spin it 180 degrees - I'll have to check that this evening. It really didn't want to spin at all. I found a grease fitting for the pivot while it was jacked up in the air that was still covered with original paint. I don't think the original owner(s) ever knew it was there or greased it. Spins nice and smooth, now. If I were to buy new that's something I'd look for - the grease fitting.
