Great pic. I took my pictures of them with a 35mm camera and never see them anymore because they are in an album under my bed. It would be worth it to go there again and take some new pics with my digital camera!!!!

I know where there's accommodation in The Catlins. .. I have a similar problem with pictures. Have some sea lion pictures to track down for you.

Wow. What cool looking machines. What do you call them? And can you send some?

Well summer is just around the corner. I knocked over a couple of paddocks for hay today. About 10 acres. Was surprised how much plantain and clover was in it, I thought it was just rubbish

Should be nice quality lamb feed over winter, or the calves can try some. Full of red clover pasture.

After hearing your discussion regarding your weather I understand your haying methods.

I've saw my neighbor cut hay in the evening and bale it the next afternoon without wrapping. In late summer hay cures very fast here.

That was the plan here, too. Those couple of paddocks of hay looking stuff were fit to bale twice, but the guys I get to roll up our grass are farmers, not contractors. They didn't get baling until 2pm, and rain was forecast at 4, so I got them to jump straight into the silage and forget about the hay.. then got over an inch of rain, and the regrowth is rapidly growing up through it. It's toppings now, as you can tell from the pictures it was very light, but the baleage was pretty thick. 104 bales off 14 acres or so, and each bale is probably 2000# or so and maybe 60% moisture.
I really enjoy your photos too. I'm a bit of a nature nutter..

See.. it's all going back into the ground. 5 inches of regrowth in 6 days doesn't make for dry hay!

my uncle-in-law operates the wrapper.. just a new one this season. Having a few teething problems, as with a lot of new gear.

Oh wow, they were so well photographed that I thought they were as big as your thumb!! Awesome little guys. I still want some..
