Curious if anyone has tried on of these. Was thinking about it for lawn dethatching and prepping for overseeding. Maybe drag harrow would be better, but at $140 it got my attention.

$135 w/ $10 off coupon is what shows on my screen.. Probably worth it just to try.

edit: ordered one to test. Someone in the questions section said they had to modify theirs to actually fit their 3pt. We'll see.

OP, thanks for the link! I want one for de-thatching and think it'd be the cat's meow for gathering pine straw. (182 whites in 3 'groves')

Dunno. Just said he had a Cat 1 and needed to modify it to work right with his arms.

EverythingAttachments (EA) unit weighs 94 lbs (about 10% over 2X this one), and costs $600. EA sells replacement tines that are .320 of an inch. Amazon's vendor sells no parts, their tines are .314 so I'd guess that when replacement tines are needed, EA would, or could be made with a grinder, to fit. Amazon's vendor tines are all same length - encouraging debris to fall out at the edges. EA unit has 2 outer tines, each shorter than the other, and both shorter than most of the tines, giving that configuration a scoop action to hold debris into the tines. I'd give this one a chance 'cause the price is right.

No doubt the EA rake is a high quality attachment. If I was going to use it couple times a year every year no question I’d go with theirs.
I have a large area of dead matted lawn from large puddles. Got 19” of rain in NE CT in July. Was looking for an easy way to rake it and scratch the soil. Was actually looking at the small Brinley towable dethatchers when I came across this. It’s only a few bucks more.

I actually have one of the small Brinly pieces that I pull behind riding mowers. It doesn't do as good a job dethatching for my purposes as i thought it would do (it is still fairly useful for raking looser materials up/out), BUT that is mainly because the spring tines are too flexible. The ones on these 3 pt ones here are about 8mm thick! I suspect these would do a much better job, although they are so much longer (more leverage on their 'spring') it's hard to say for sure that they are that much stiffer. Glad someone is ordering to find out and let us know!

curious

Since I've quit bagging the grass on the front lawn by the gardens, The lawn quality has greatly improved. Way less weed patches. Perhaps the area was "thatch deficient". Any way, win win for a good looking green lawn. The Mrs. likes it!

I've never bagged when mowing and consider doing so a 'harvest' that depletes the soil over time. btw, saving beer bottle/can dregs and applying thru' a hose-end sprayer is an organic way to speed decomposition vs mechanical thatching. Just puttin' it out there. :)
