That bearing in the housing you just posted is one of the "Double Set-Screw" type not an "Eccentric Collar" locking type.

That was just one of them. I saw another that was Eccentric but it had an even greater length through bore. That's something I'm concerned about because of the difference in length outside the mount along the axle shaft. I'll have to measure to see to what length I have.

* The eccentric collar type has a longer length through the bore due to adding the collar to the outside.

Mounting the bearing inside/outside the bracket will make little difference.

It will if the axle shaft is not long enough to handle the extra distance outside.

If the frame is weak enough to bend you may have an opportunity to strengthen it somehow. ?

When or if the bearings on my Mott 72 roller go out I'm going to redo the mount and install the 4 bolt cast with the insert bearings. Mine was modified (or cobbled up) after the roller broke. Can't gripe cause me done it in a hurry to get it going.

If you all see me posting about it please help. May just go ahead and do it this winter and get it over with. The cast mount is the way to go because the bearing inserts are inexpensive to replace and with proper maintenance the housing will outlast me.

Know what you mean. It's acting crazy on my end also. I replied to one post and it never entered me into the subscription and it never changed the count of how many had replied. My reply was there but most didn't know until they happen to click on the post or receive a notification. Maybe it'll be all smoothed out shortly. It's a lot better today. No worries here. You've been great supplying info to someone with very limited experience in these matters. Thank you again.
I've got a busy work week ahead and may not get to ordering any parts until toward the end of the week. This coming weekend my smart friend is the father of the groom and will host the reception which includes many out of town guests and family. I doubt if we will be able to "play with tractors" as his wife calls it.

I think you've headed me down the right path here. I wish you well in your other endeavors, whatever they may be.
