Its all about what you want,not really what you need,,,he wants a 300 deere,than he should have one,,its nice to be able to afford stuff you don't really need..[I cut over an acre of yard with a 15 year old sears and a 2 year old snapper],now if I could afford it......
After purchasing a Z225 several years ago for a similarly sized lawn at my old house, I'd add another consideration that I didn't appreciate until after my purchase: what is the value of your time?
I spent about twice what I originally planned on spending for the Z225, but was able to mow my lawn in about half the time it previously took me using a Toro riding mower. (The Toro required what seemed like hundreds of 3 point turns).
Getting an extra hour every weekend during growing season to spend on things I'd rather be doing (family, cycling, hiking, etc.) was well worth the extra cost to me, especially when I spread that cost over the lifetime of the mower.
