Lead shot to add weight to implements?

Does anyone think filling the front tires on my B7200 is a bad idea? I could pickup reclaimed shot so it wouldn't cost anything.
Filling any tires with lead shot is not a good idea. Fill must be fluid, or alternately, elastic in nature.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I like the weights idea. Will look into that.

My L3200 manual notes not to fill the fronts if I recall. I belive I've heard the same for the manuals on the small Kubota's too. I'm assuming it's an attempt to limit the force on steering components & axles somewhat.

If I ever really need traction for something I'll pick up a scoop of something heavy in the bucket & carry that around until I don't need it anymore.

Also, as others noted, only put fluid in the tires. Preferably something non-freezing. Calcium is salt, so will eat up rims & kill plants when it leaks. Use windshield washer fluid or the heavier beet juice (Rim Guard). It's heavier & environmentally friendly.

On the subject of lead shot, I've read somewhere of lead shot being used for weight inside a closed container, and the container splitting as the shot corroded and expanded.

Can't find the reference now.

I agree with the simple methods, go and find the cheepest weight you can then make a way to attach it once you know what it is you are going to use. I would make it so you can change or remove the weight if you change your mind or find you added too much. Also don't forget that you have a limited lift and carrying capacity. Something I would do is add a bunch of weight then hook up and when I went to lift it the implement wouldn't move and the front of the tractor would lift off the ground!

Just had a thought, make a tray to fit some water jugs or a drum and fill it with water. Then just drain it before winter. 6 gallons weighs about 50 lbs, so 4 jugs on the back would be a good amount of weight and the plus side is if you got dehydrated you would have plenty of water on hand!
