Leaking Valve on Log Splitter

Called Speeco and they are going to send out a new ring kit, so it appears that the schematic is not 100% - gotta love that.

Although they offered to pay labor to get the valve repaired so that was good, since they should, but we all know how corporations are nowadays, offload onto the consumer as often as possible!

I am wondering which spool is installed in the valve body. All the Speeco 3 point splitteres I have seen around here came with both open and closed center spool valves.

The default from the factory is OPEN and then they send a conversion kit along with splitter to switch it to CLOSED.

My tractor's hyd. are OPEN so I left the factory installed OPEN one in.

PS - It worked great since I purchased it 2 weeks ago... Until I used the auto retract it worked like a champ.

The last time you tryed to use it mabe you got the hoses reversed and pressured the return side, that would blow out the O ring.

They mention something in the directions that if you feed the valve wrong the autoreturn kickoff may not work correctly and damage valve. Have the Speeco 33/34 ton splitter fo around 7 years now and when we first got it the valve would not hold on the detent very well and would kickoff when the oil was cold. Adjusted the detent spring nut a 1/4 turn and made it better but still kickoff first couple strokes early in morning because of the backpreassure caused by the thicker oil. Only other issue that I have had with the vavle was water getting into the end cap and making things stick. Similar to the Kubota loader valves a drain oil and a squirt of oil helps them every once in a while if they sit outside like many do.

I have a Speeco too, I did what true temper said, ran for sometime before it blew.
