Leaky loader hydraulic hose coupler....

Unloaded some firewood logs monday with the XR 3140 and when I parked the tractor I noticed the quick coupler for the bucket curl up function hose dripping, complete with an oil trail right to were I parked.

So, I undid the quick coupler, could not see any crud or any o-rings wanting to leave or that had left there position inside the female half, and the male half of the coupler to be pristine, barely even could see where the 'lock balls' rode on the ridge to keep the two halves together.

Blew out the female half with some brake kleen and compressed air, brake kleened the male then stuffed the two back together and now no leaks....

I have not had the loader off the tractor since new and that was fist time I even undid any of those couplers.....

Anybody elts run into this with there LS machines??

Yes, I have. I called my dealer, who had no suggestions (learned that they had no idea which brand of quick disconnect fittings were installed - mine are Stucchi), then did the same sort of maintenance the you did, although the first time I tried, the fitting still leaked, but the second try worked. I think that it takes very little grit to cause a leak - my second time, I focused on o-ring cleanliness.
My only conclusion so far is that the convenience of quick connection is not a perfect trade-off so far for me.

be careful using brake clean on any seal. It can cause swelling.

Thanks johnT3383, that helps alot.

They are not a perfect trade off and such things happen.... Like just out of the blue to start leaking like it did, even without ever separating them in 4 years.
I will look into getting a couple spare couplers anyhow....

Brake kleen will not hurt the o-rings. the material they are made of is not affected by it.
