When I was 15 everything was done manually. Was lucky to have a gas powered push mower. Of course didn't have the yard you have though.
I'm with Taylor, leaves make good compost. I don't build compost piles with mine, but rather I have a plastic chute blocker that came with my mower. I also have mulching blades. My wife and I "mow" our leaves back into the lawn. That way all the nutrients stay in the lawn and we don't have to fertilize as much. It takes about two passes with the mower to mulch completely, but once we're done, we're done until more leaves fall. We don't have to bag or tote them away.
Kyle, many cities take leaves and collected organics and make compost out of the materials to use in parks and also to give back to the residents. Do you know what your city does with the leaves they collect? It would seem an awful waste to just put them into a landfill.
