By the looks you could use a back pack blower..faster clean up time. :)

We pile our leaves at the back of the property. It is sort of a berm that runs all along the back of the property. The leaves decompose to the nicest black fluffy compost. My theory is that the berm helps hold run off to keep the water here as we are still on a well. I also top dress the lawn with compost in hope of improving our soil. My wife wants to try vegetable gardening again so we will be able to use a lot of compost there. I actually see leaves as valuable. In fact last year I vacuumed up my neighbors maple leaves after the lawn guy put them out on the curb.

I get a ton of bad looks from folks in town. I pick up their yard trimmings for my compost and garden beds. I use tons of them per year. I even have the town dumping them on my place. THey are great to make a raised be and put seed taters in lol.

I'm with Taylor, leaves make good compost. I don't build compost piles with mine, but rather I have a plastic chute blocker that came with my mower. I also have mulching blades. My wife and I "mow" our leaves back into the lawn. That way all the nutrients stay in the lawn and we don't have to fertilize as much. It takes about two passes with the mower to mulch completely, but once we're done, we're done until more leaves fall. We don't have to bag or tote them away.

Kyle, many cities take leaves and collected organics and make compost out of the materials to use in parks and also to give back to the residents. Do you know what your city does with the leaves they collect? It would seem an awful waste to just put them into a landfill.

When I was 15 everything was done manually. Was lucky to have a gas powered push mower. Of course didn't have the yard you have though.

When I was 15, I had to walk 15 miles in the snow to get to school, which meant that I had to leave the house at 2:30 AM to make it on time.

Seriously though, I would have -killed- to have a tractor like that to work with around our place. I had to mow 1.5 acres with really junky push mower (not joking about that one)...

We don't collect all our leaves, so the ones we do not collect just get mulched. Last year we filled our compost pen with all our leaves, but this year it is overflowing...

Our township has a composting program that turns the leaves into free compost for our residents, but we have more compost then we know what to do with...
