LED Trailer Light's

I have always had problems with the bulbs in regular lights but after changing to LED's I have not had a problem since. It has been over 2years.

I replaced many of the bulbs in my camping trailer with LED's. I pay about 9-12 bucks a bulb on amazon from ones with many good reviews. I often boondock and need the battery savings from LED's.

Also be sure they will fit.
My Hudson trailer has the light "boxed" in and I haven't found a 4" LED tail light that fits. I called Hudson and they said they didn't know of one.
Everything seems to be 4 5/16" in diameter.

Thus I need to fit it inside the "box".
Those replacement bulbs sound interesting.

I've put these lights on two fifth wheel campers and one utility hauling trailer - 10 Diode Surface Mount Red LED Stop Turn Tail Light RV Trailer Truck Cargo RV | eBay

They're very bright, sealed very well and to this point, almost bullet proof. I've done a lot of driving on rough roads, nothing has shaken loose so far.

I bought a set of the replacements for an 1157 bulb awhile back and they just didn't impress me at all, and even if they did, you'd still have the possibility of corrosion in the socket, etc.

Yeah I thought of that corrosion too, but you can install the bulb covered with grease and it should be OK. However, 100% sealed seems better. LED 1157s work pretty well in my opinion. But I have some broken light housings and want to replace all. I like LED trailer lights because they take so little power to operate, and they are bright. Thus even if your trailer plug is corroded the lights are still bright.

I am hoping that HF have figured out (by now) how to build a LED circuitboard that will withstand vehicle vibration.

Everything seems to be 4 5/16" in diameter.
Thus I need to fit it inside the "box".

Newbury I have the same situation, looking for an inexpensive light that fits in the box. I plan to use Harbor freight "insert" lights and discard the black ring, and just silicone the light housing directly to the steel light bracket, then cover the box with a protective screen.

4" Submersible LED Stop/Turn Trailer Tail Light

Heres some pics and dimensions of the lights I bought at Harbor Freight. These same lights are all over the web for about the same price ($15 each). 4 5/16" is the actual (accurate) diameter of the light housing.

What about a led replacement 1157 bulb?

I would ONLY use Amazon.com: Philips 12899RX2 X-treme Vision LED Red Rouge Intense Stop Light Bulb for 1157 P21/5 (pair): Automotive for an 1157 replacement bulb.
I have some generic ones from Amazon that had good reviews, but there is almost no differentiation between "high" and "low" (as such, its almost impossible to see the brake/turn light when the running lights are on.
If you need a single filament red bulb, try: Amazon.com: Philips (12898RX2) Red P21W LED Exterior Bulb: Automotive
For white ones, try: Amazon.com: Philips 12898X2 X-treme Vision LED 6000K 12 Volt Xenon White Backup Light Bulb for 1156 P21 (pair): Automotive

well -- how often do you use the trailer and does size matter? I bought these two years ago LED Trailer Light Kit - Includes Wiring & LED Trailer Lights . I used the taililghts from the kit and tossed the rest in my stash. I used the trailer at least 1-6 times a month during spring thru late fall. I towed firewood home once or twice during first snowfalls with no salt on roads yet too and no problems with it since.

I switched all the lights on my 20 year old flatbed car hauler to LED's. I went with slim line ones, and they were much smaller than stock. I was worried about visibility, as they are half the size of the originals. The new LED's are WAY brighter than bulbs, I can see the glow on the trailer and ground in my rear view mirror much better, and after 3 years, still zero issues. I got them off ebay, and they were pretty inexpensive. Well worth the change
