Flail Mower Let's talk flail mowers

Thanks for the input on the ground speed with a flail vs. a rotary cut. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row and hopefully one of them will lay a golden egg.

Just purchased used John Deere flail, about 7 foot wide and offset. It has the duck foot blades. Serial number is 436546. Any idea what model?

Will try a picture. Looks very much like the red one on Ebay. It is not rusted through anywhere though. He says he uses it to mow 1"-2" brush.

How old is this mower? Where do I find info. on it? Any idea of value? Are parts available? He mentioned he reworked or replaced the pulley when he got it, also replaced the belt. Thanks.

Nipped out and had a look. Yes, It is a JCTT. If you want a photo I will do that later.

I have done quite a bit more with it already and love the way it shreds lantana etc. It really does a great job.

good, it is the best Chinese gear box which we can find.

It is a very nicely molded box and has several mounting points on it to choose from. There is no sign of any oil seepage at all like I see mentioned from other types of g'box. Very happy with it.

Yes, this gear box is good, according to my record, the defect rate is less than 2/1000. I notice there are some Chinese factory started to use cheap gear box to reduce cost.
Anyway, for personal customer's application, JCTT is good enough, but not good for commercial customer.
