Letting the wife drive the tractor

In another thread I told the story of the day the Bride met me at the edge of the yard with her mower while I was bush hogging and wanted to TRADE! After a 2 minute lesson and a 5 minute lecture, she took off. It's an HST like the mower and she took to it like a duck to water and had a BALL!

She's run it several times since moving stuff around the yard (don't think the wheelbarrow has moved since she figured out the FEL). As was said earlier, it's half hers, I tickled she can enjoy it some, BUT not as much as me /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

HI,
This is my first post so I thought I would let you know its not just guys that like their tractors us gals do too. This spring I bought a new BX2200 with FEL, MMM, Front Mount Snowblower, Broom, Tiller, and 3pt. Blade. I fell in love with the tiller the first time I used it, whole lot easier than walking back and forth with the walk behind. This purchase was all my decision. I'm not married and have no kids, so I tell people that I get to spend money on play things like this. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gee, twenty some years ago before I was married my wife told me she couldn't cook because she spent all her time in a tractor when growing up. Ok, I can cook, this is fine. Her dad was a average farmer from North Dakota. Ok an average farm is 5,000 acres. My wife drove a big Case 4 wheel drive. Well big for it's time. The tractor has long since been retired.

Well she was right, she can't cook. But she will not drive my TC29D or my ATV for fear of tipping over. So now here I am with a women that can't cook or drive the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

However, she does let me always get the last two words in, "yes dear"

Shoot, you guys with spouses are lucky. If only I could get my dog to drive the tractor every once in a while. I asked him to, but he told me that he can't, 'cause he doesn't have opposable thumbs to operate the FEL. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My wife was driving my B7500 last week lifting me up in the FEL to place X-mas lights on the house. She did a great job and I figured since I was up there I would clean out the gutters too. The FEL comes in handy for alot of things other than just moving things. I had my wife in the FEL a few months ago picking grapes out of the tree in the back yard.

My wife has turned into a decent tractor operator after a somewhat rocky start. She was a city girl and had never been on a tractor.

About a year ago I had asked her to boost me up in the bucket to trim a tree branch that was rubbing against the garage. She has gotton fairly good with the loader on the TC40D. However, when I had finished cutting the limb and gave her the hand signal to lower me to the ground, lower me to the ground she did and at the speed of light. I dropped like a rock. As I sat in the bottom of the bucket with the wind knocked out of me I could see the look on her face. It was a look of "sorry, was that too fast?"

I've forgiven her for that mistake but I use my Stihl pole saw now for trimming tree branches.
