Letting the wife drive the tractor

A co-worker and his wife were moving cross country in two vehicles, she in the lead and him following. He broke down and she kept going until the State Police stopped her two states away!

Bob I was amazed by your story until I saw that you are in New England. So what your saying is she didn’t look back for half and hour? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My mother who is now 70 told me that she was getting scared of the old ford 8 N that we had. She had scared herseld while bushhogging and forgot to put the overrunning clutch when she put the deck on. She said that she would never drive a tractor again. Bought her (me) the 3130 HST. She loves it. She uses it and the FEL every day when working and cleaning her stalls.

The old gal still rides every week and I most of the time I don't have to send her to bed for not doing her chores.

The only problem that I have is getting enough seat time now.

What the heck, she is happy and I am estatic, it is a new lease on life in some ways. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Cerberus;

Nice place to have a little land. I live about 1.5 hrs from there. If you want someone to keep it occupied until you get back let me know. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My place to go when I need to get away and have my sanity in in the Teton Valley. Hae had the place for 20 years, still works.

How did you find atlanta? we don't let many secret spots out of state, if we can help it.

Idaho is being discovered, oh well, might as well give it to the rich as well. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have a wife who loves machinery. She even lets me keep a steam engine (a 4x4 D-valve engine with a
3 Ft. flywheel) in the living room (I made it into a floor lamp). Back in the 1970s, I had to put in 800 ft.
of new 3-inch line from my pump on the irrigation ditch to a distribution point in my pastures. I rented a
Case backhoe for the job. I happened to be on the phone when it was delivered, and my wife signed for it
and got instruction on how to operate it. When I got outside, she was digging ditch shouting "wheee" as
she was throwing dirt around. She wouldn't give me my machine (toy) back, so I followed meekly behind
making rough places plane with a shovel and dropping in the line.

Only when the ditch was done and the pipe in did she say, "you can fill it in, dear."

I have found her love for machinery more of a blessing than a curse. While we we still young enough to be
making hay, I would put her to work cutting alfalfa and pulling the baler around the fields on my Farmall
while I drank a lemonade (or was it beer?) in the shade.

Now, she refers to my Kubota as "your cute toy" and lets me do most of the seat work (i.e.,play). She even
drove the old retired Farmall onto the lawn this year and hung blinking Christmas lights on it. That's
humiliation for the proud old, hardworking, machine!!!!

He kept telling me about Atlanta . I thought He was glossing the tale a bit . But he was true to his word ..... What a nice place !!! As it is now , I doubt I'll ever make it back there .
Buy one can always hope . John
