Just got a new F150, 5.0, 4x4 crew, XL so not many options, just the tow package. Like the truck, 19+mpg. Had it 2 weeks, 1600 miles, dropped a valve, through the piston and block. Dealer came and picked my wife up, had it towed, new engine in by the next week. Valve broke clean just below the keeper. Not a common issue. Already have another 1600miles on the new motor, everything seems ok. Wife is still not happy. I was just glad the break/issue required a new engine, no repair.

The rattling 5.0 engine continued in this truck with no resolution. It also uses a quart of so of oil between changes. I have however solved all of my problems with this engine. My dealer had ordered an identical truck except it has a 3.5 ecoboost. I got a quote from the salesman that I deal with and to my surprise, i did not loose my shirt on a trade. The new truck looks exactly like the one that I had inside and out. It has the max tow and FX4 options that the other one did not.

The engine/transmission is very smooth with no rattling or jerking. I think I will like this engine but time will tell. My Wife was teasing me and said I could not even brag on getting a new truck since the new one looks just like the old one (she knows that's not my thing). I said....good :)

Wow, everyone I know likes their 5.0L F-150. Suppose there’s always going to be a few bad ones made.

When I got my 19 F150, I was really looking for the V8... Just a mental thing thinking it was lass to worry about if I were to keep the truck after the lease is up... Anyway, couldn't get the color / options I wanted in the V8 locally so my dealer said to drive the 3.5 EB and step on the gas.... I was sold. I have about 3200 miles on it now. I like it, it tows extremely well for a small truck. I typically drive it in the Eco mode As I find it shifts smoother. 19.5 avg mpg. I'm told to keep up with the oil changes as that's important for that motor.

In 2018 they changed the way the cylinder liners are done. The older ones had traditional cylinder liners installed while the newer one have some kind of plasma helical arc super duper special liner in them. Most people aren’t having problems but after reading the F150 forums there are a higher number than normal having oil consumption issues.

There are some people also complaining about the 10 speeds being a little clunky. There are some people getting a reflash done that seems to help.

the fords look good, but everyone i know with newer super duties are having lots of problems with them, electronics, suspension being major issues and they have trucks that are less than 2 years old. my work mates truck has been in the dealer for something or another more than once a month since he bought it, but never the same thing 3 times for lemon law. my GM has had the weeping trans cooler lines. replaced one wheel bearing a couple weeks ago and had an AC hose blow. 102k on it.

i need shocks. my work mates truck had death wobble with less than 30k miles. he put all fox 2.0 shocks and an expensive steering stabilizer on it, fixed it. cost him a bundle though.

You should know me then. Trouble-free 2017 here. I do think I need to change the battery in my key fob though.

Why would anyone be a lifetime whatever guy? Sounds like the Charactor in Rain Man, who could only wear Hanes underware purchased from a particular K-Mart.
