I purchased a TC40 in July. Am very pleased with it so far. But I have found the need to add more lights. The ones on the front of the tractor are inadequeate with a fel attached. And you cannot see very well behind you when doing rear scrapper work after dark. Very interesting trying to remove snow with rear flashers as only light. Can you give me some input as to mounting locations and # of lights needed. Also do I need a seperate switch for these or are they controlled by the main light switch. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Lights on ROPS is a popular, as well as a frequent, topic in many forums on TBN. A search for lights on the NH Owning/Operating forum returns more threads than you can shake a stick at! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Attached is a picture of the lights I added to the ROPS on my TC25D, two facing forward (top of the ROPS) and two to the rear (near the flashers). There's an electrical pigtail underneath the right side of the driver's seat that can be used for power. I used this connection for the rear facing lights and ran a separate, fused circuit to the battery for the front facing ones. I think you'll find a lot of us have added lights.

NH makes a factory aux light for the rear. It is very bright and most models already have a wire stubbed out to the somewhere near the ROPS for it to be mounted. On my TC24D, I needed a simple bracket and the light from NH. The bracket was $5, the light was about $30 or $35. I think some models of the TC series come with the bracket so you should simply check your owners manual. What I found was that the light is low on my tractor, and while very bright, could cast a shadow on the work area because the light hits the implement and leaves a shadow. I also installed 4 lights on my ROPS. 2 face the rear so I have a trianglular pattern with 2 lights up high plus the factory Aux light down low and it gives me plenty of light for working anything off the rear of the tractor at night. I also mounted 2 lights facing forward on the ROPS becuase I also found the headlights to be inadequate. Waterproof switches completed the project and were mounted in the left fender.

Below is a picture of the factory Aux light mounted on the back of my tractor. The light has a switch built into it. It took a total of about 5 minutes to mount and hook up.

Here is a picture of the lights I mounted to my ROPS.

I used marine expoxy to mount a 20" long piece of 2" angle iron to the ROPS. I then drilled all the mounting holes into the angle iron and painted it to match the ROPS. I mounted my lights UNDER the ROPS because I have lots of low tree branches and didn't want to tear the lights apart on a branch.

Here is a picture looking down onto the back of the angle iron light bar I attached. By using the angle iron and mounting the lights below the ROPS, it allowed me to run the wiring behind the ROPS and keep it protected from snagging branches.

Here is a picture of the switches I mounted in the left fender. The switches are waterproof marine switches and seem to be the same brand used by NH on the dash. The switches are available with lighted indicators or without them. I chose the lighted units.

Good eye! Bob they are indeed Signal Stat snow plow lamps complete with low/high beams, running lamps, and turn signals built in. I got this idea from Mark_in_NH who used a set on his rig. These were one of my eBay purchases. If you like them there is a dealer selling them at eBay that currently has multiples, brand new, and still in the Signal Stat box. I think that they should hold up well for the application and they look decent.
