Hi Old Crusty, I looked at the 4300 JD and then I looked at the Kubota. The impression I got from one JD dealer was that I wasn't worth their time unless I was spending 150k plus. Another JD dealer salesman got upset because I wanted R4 tires and he would have to refigure the price. And to make my decision easier for me the Kubota salesman called me several times and offered to meet me after hours for a test drive due to my work schedule. That impressed me so I ended up purchasing a L3010 HST, FEL, 6' finishing mower and a 6' box scraper and I have no reqrets at all.

Happy on orange

Steve

This thread is starting to sound like a broken record.

I started out looking at all the major brands. After preliminary research, I was mostly interested in Kubota or Deere, but I did look at Cub Cadet and NH as well.

The only dealer that really seemed "friendly" and interested was the Kubota dealer. The local J.D. salesman had a major attitude.

I bought a Kubota B2910 and I'm thrilled with it. The dealer and all his employees have always been friendly whenever I visit.

If price/features are comparable, go with the dealer you feel most comfortable with. Even if his price is a bit more, I think it will be worth it in the long run.

I looked at the JD's...they treated me right but for my budget and what I wanted, the Kubota was considerably less expensive. The 4010 series was the same price as my BX22 but had no backhoe even available for that unit. So I went orange.

I haven't regretted it one bit. My dealer treats me like a king and I've not had a single issue with the tractor. Indeed, its probably one of the wisest purchase decisions I've ever made. I got my money's worth and then some. VIVA KUBOTA !

I did a lot of looking and talking (sometimes one-way only) with Kubota, J. Deere, and New Holland. The J.Deere was totally uncooperative and their new tractors on the lot were inoperable. Kubota guys were great and even let me take several home for the weekend to try them out.

I've had my B7500 for about 2 1/2 years and love it. Maintenance costs were very low just replace the filters and fluids. I had one warranty repair that I noticed a week after it expired. The dealer went ahead and replaced it anyway free of charge. Thats my kind of tractor and dealer!!

I love my L3010HST, and the FEL seems ok now once I adjusted the control. I think Kubota is stretching the truth with the backhoe: its really a 3pt, and they refer to it as subframe, which is what the Deere really is. Nonetheless, the hoe works, its just that I wanted a subframe mounted backhoe.

So, I sometimes wonder if I should have bought the Deere. Ironically, I would have, except the Deere dealer lowballed me on my trade in. He phoned with 'the right price' literally 5 minutes after I signed for the Kubota ....

This thread really does sound like a broken record, but I'll add my comments anyway. I have two basic uses for a tractor - cutting about 2 acres of grass and removing snow from my 400 ft. driveway. I use my ATV for everything else. My original tractor was a 12hp Gravely. I didn't have it very long before someone stole all the attachments for it so I traded up to a 18 hp Snapper. I was alright but it had a front mounted single stage snow blower that didn't work very well. I even put a cab on it to keep the snow out of my face. The dealer that I bought both tractors from is a Kubota dealer. The salesman I had been dealing with suggested that what would really meet my need was a front mount tractor. He didn't have any used machines but showed me a new unit. I was impressed. New units were far beyond my price range so I started looking for used units. The commercial users around here that I talked to unaminously suggested Kubota. I did talk to the local JD dealer but got little interest. I eventually found three units of interest. I then put the Snapper up for sale and it sold quickly at my price. The local Kubota dealer still did not have a used unit. I then contacted the dealers that had the units I was interested in and made a deal. The tractor I bought had over 4500 hours on it when I bought it. It came with a 60" mower deck, a 52" two-stage snowblower, a 50" dozer blade and a full metal cab. I have used it for three years now and had no problems other than normal wear and tear. The Kubota dealer has been very helpful. The bottom line is that I am very happy with it. Cab on in the winter to keep warm while blowing snow (thanks to a good heater) and cab off in the summer for cutting grass.

oldcrusty,

I own both and like both. I also plan to buy a NH, after I find an L35 for my collection.
For CUTs, Kubota is probably the best. I am not professional farmer and probably do more polishing then riding. At least I am honest!
For my applications, Kubota is the most comfortable and my Kubota dealer is the most fun to deal with. I learn the most from my Kubota dealer, but that is probably because I spend more time there. The Deere people are great, I just like the feel of my Kubota better. For me-that is what counts.
If you use one for a living, you may have a different perspective-if not then you will probably agree with me.
No complaints about Kubota from me-except I still want more of them!

I love my Kubota. It's had a few things go wrong, some were my fault, some wern't. Every tractor will have things that need to be fixed etc. If you're exceptionally handy you can fix everything yourself and not deal with the dealer much. Like most people, you will end up interacting with the dealer so it makes sense to find one you can do business with. I had less than satisfactory encounters with the JD and NH dealers and have had great service with the K dealer despite some initial snags. I don't think you can go wrong with the orange, blue or green tractors.
