I believe I read in my manual where these o-rings were used to create an edge to paint to during the painting process and were supposed to be removed upon delivery. I had a John Deere 512 loader installed a couple of weeks ago and haven't thought much about it until someone asked me if my o-rings had slipped out. Can anyone identify and verify if there is something wrong in these pictures or is this something I need to cut and remove? Thanks in advance for all responses.

Yes, cut them off. My dealer also neglected to cut them off prior to delivery. They serve no purpose.

You can just leave them on or cut them off-it does not matter.

Thanks for all the solid advice. I had previously emailed John Deere Company for their response and they sent me back to the dealer. Come to find out the dealer wasn't sure either. He just happened to have a Deere rep. in the day I emailed him and he sent him back with the question to find the answer. Apparently the rep. wasn't sure either. I am going to paste in the official response from John Deere Company:

The o-rings are used to mask the rod wiper seal when the cylinders are painted. The o-ring is pushed against the seal. That is why you see paint on the one side.

The o-rings should be removed. They serve no purpose for loader function.

You know, Deere says they serve no purpose and throw them away but, if you wanted to buy some (say to touch-up your paint) they would likely cost $15.00 each.

Ah, relief.
I was walking in my yard and found a broken O ring, I searched the tractor, another was falling down. On inspection I couldn't figure out why the heck they were there.
Now I can sleep safely.
