My dealer loaded the tires when he installed the loader mount; I wasn't in favor of that (soft ground for mowing), but he said there was no way he'd let me have the loader without loading them. Occasionally I'll wish that they werern't loaded but it really hasn't been an issue. I also have a couple hundred pound weight box for the TPH for the occasional time when I'm really picking up something really heavy but essentially the tires are enough. The loader is great and you will continue to find things to use it for.tbr701 said:

Hi all, I was doing a search of the forums and came across this old post.
I'm wondering if anyone has more up-to-date pricing on a FEL for the BX1800. I found a BX1800 that I can afford but it doesn't come with a FEL. I'm trying to gauge if buying the BX w/o a FEL is cost effective, or if I should keep looking for a used BX with a FEL.
The more I research this tractor stuff, the quicker I'm realizing that virtually no one puts their prices on the internet, which is beyond annoying. Everything seems to need a quote, and I'm not interested in talking to a sales person to get a quote because I'm only in the research stage at this point. I don't want to be subjected to high pressure sales any more than a sales person wants to deal with someone (like me) who is not ready to buy and is on a fishing trip.
The advice in this thread is great (hard to find a used FEL, etc.). Anyone know current prices (ballpark of course) on a Woods FEL or Kubota FEL for the BX1800?

The used BX I'm looking at is $5400. I've been searching for a long time for a SCUT (Kubota BX or MF GC are my preferences) with a MMM and FEL. In a perfect world, I'd like to be around $7k, but I realize it may be closer to $8500-8900. I'm also trying to get something >10 years old, too.
Edit: The BX1800 I'm looking at does not have a loader valve, either. I forgot to mention that.

A new loader is going to run about $3k +/- installed. Don't make the mistake I did... Buy a tractor with a factory loader. I had a horrible experience trying to piece together a factory loader several years after I bought the tractor and I didn't save any $$$.

I would advise you to talk with a local dealer for a quote and more. A good salesman will keep your name in mind if a used tractor comes it. He may also make you an offer you can't refuse on another tractor.
Remember, if you get a tractor without a loader, you may have to go through the expense to get it plumbed for a loader. And you may end wasting time and spending more money for something you could of bought cheaper--installed.

I looked at used kubotas for a while and couldn't find what I wanted-mmm and fel on a small one. They all had one or the other, and buying that stuff is expensive as you have seen.
I bought a new 1860 when the 1870's came out. Put down 1/2 the money and got kubota 0% financing for the rest.
I am a recovering mechanic and a perfectionist, so I dont like the idea of someone else working on my stuff, so the warranty doesn't appeal to me.
But being new I dont have to worry about some idiot having abused it (besides me), or putting wrong fluid in or whatever. Equipment lives a much harder life than most cars.
